2021 Tesla Model 3

Black/Black&White interior

New Client. Was upset with the way his Tesla paint looked. “It looks like it was painted with a brillo pad” is a direct quote. He took it in to be professionally washed in an attempt to rectify this situation…

A friend told him about getting the car corrected and coated. This is where I enter into this picture; LOL.

Car wash completely covered in swirls and some type of hazing. Also had factory defects that appeared to be sanding marks.

Paint was on the hard side and it took a bit to get my setup dialed in.

The ‘details’:

Gary Dean shampoo.

Adam’s tire and rubber cleaner.

Adam’s wheel cleaner.

McKee’s37 iron remover.

Medium clay mitt.

Adam’s rinse and coat for wheels/calipers.

Scangrip lighting.

Defelsko PTG.

Flex 3401, aka ‘the beast’.

Flex ‘pixie’.

Griot’s fast correcting cream.

Griot’s perfecting cream.

Optimum panel wipe for final wipe down.

Adam’s ceramic paint coating.

Carpro PERL tire dressing.

Adam’s glass cleaner.

McKee’s37 quick interior detailer.

Ultima Interior Guard Plus on interior pieces.

Metro vacuum.

Thanks for looking!

WOW! I've see a lot of your work, Scott, but this might be your best transformation yet. That paint was in pretty bad shape, and a new car. Factories need to step up their paint game.

This photo really knocked me out. It looks like the paint, after your correction, looks liquid. Liquid black gold.

That looked horrible, hard to believe someone could do that much damage to the paint in such a short amount of time. Was this damage caused prior to purchase??? Your turn around was amazing as usual.

I'm guessing, since it's a 2021, that most of that damage came from the factory. Factories are infamous for less than perfect paint application. Sad! Fortunately, albeit at a price paid for by the customer/owner, it's correctible. I always tell people if they want top dollar on a sale of a vehicle, get it detailed inside and outside, with paint correction. In most cases the additional money you get for the vehicle will have paid for the detailing and then some. JMO.

Thanks guys.

Jay: Tesla is notorious for horrible paint/defects and fit/finish/panel alignment etc. It's a shame.

I can't say that all of the defects came from the factory/dealer; the owner had taken it to a car wash a couple times as well as had it 'professionally washed' in an attempt to correct how it looked...

Ah, a carwash will definitely punish the paint. That is the LAST place I'd ever run my G70 through. Well, not even the last place....I'd never do it. Especially after seeing some of the cars dropped off at your place for paint correction with car washing damage. Like so many others here on SVTP, I'm very anal when it comes to car washing.

Fantastic work and turn around on a terrible car for paint quality/consistency! Hopefully the customer stays away from car washes from now on! It only takes one visit to do some bad damage.
