I am glad you took my advice and made a build thread. This is amazing. It is not something I would do with a limited production car but I do love it.

The line hasn’t been crossed by putting an LS or any non Ford engine in it.

Thank you for posting. Definitely subbing to this.

I’d love to see some of the hate I’ll get when I do something similar to my 04 cobra. It’s a long haul car for me and I’ll do with it as I want as I’m not planning to get rid of it ever as it was a dream car of mine.
Sure I can go get a $500 V6 of which I still may do so I can seriously give no F’s racing it but my 04 WILL get track time not to mention endless canyon time.

To the build so far good job and keep hacking that MF’er up lol in for results.

Side note: did you ever consider the Kenny brown IRS geometry modifications? They appear to be back in business making parts for the IRS again (doubt the LCA’s are good still)

Certainly a valid point for the majority but it doesn't appear that the OP has any concerns around money. I think it's a awesome build but what the car will be worth in say 30-40 years compared to if it was left alone will be interesting. Personally, if I was building something that had to have the cobra badge, I would of started with a 99/01.
It would be worth more than a Cobra for sure, but the fact it wasnt under 100 miles on the clock and was driven on the street takes it out of the "Barret-Jackson unmolested stupid money" category. Its low build makes it more valuable, but its performance isnt mind blowing.

Some guys local to me went turbo/auto on their C6Zs a "few" years back. Everyone crying about why not use a base C6?....waaaahhhhh. Same answer from them. "We already have the cars and why not?" Its what they wanted to do. I believe one of them is still the quickest IRS equipped C6 on a radial, but I could be wrong. He seems to be too busy with his shop at this point. After awhile people stopped mentioning the fact that it was/is a C6Z and just seem to like it for what it is at this point.

I looked at using their IRS arms but reportedly are weaker than stock so didn’t use them.

It’s all stupid expensive, e9 was ridiculous (laser red from 1999)

It seems like the reds are always expensive/hard to come by from Ford for some reason. I was watching a GMG rerun the other day when then redid a 67 Shelby GT350 in red. Same deal there. Said the red was hard to come by and more expensive than all the other colors. To a lesser extent I had a similar issue with the Race Red on my F150. They didn't make many and then at the time, the pigment factory in Japan was wiped out by a tsunami so it was harder to come by (same for Tuxedo Black as well).

that would be 2011, I was in the same situation, trying to order a new F350 in red metallic and because of the plant in Japan being wiped out, I could not get it. Settled for Dark Shadow grey - today it would be called Magnetic - and got the truck ordered with the options I wanted.

So by that philosophy why buy a Terminator when you can buy a V6 and swap it for cheaper? jUsT aS gUd

Personally I'd say the difference is if you start with a terminator and it snowballs from boltons to an all out race car over time it makes more sense then buying one knowing from the start you're gonna go balls out on it.

Gonna be one hell of a build though and look forward to following along

Very Cool Build! It's also neat that its just a couple towns over from me being built, and I know the owner of Morning Glory Motorsports!

Lava red fell to the tsunami as well.

That was a really cool color, a lot of people didn't even know their cars were red until they saw it in the right light.

Link to said builds?

Again, the eyebrow raiser here is the MASSIVE price differential of a chipping a $50k Cobra R into a a shell and building a race car vs buying a $500 shell and building a race car.

There isn't exactly a comparable for the Viper V.
Because of history man. Life's about experiences. This might not be the most financial savvy decision, but it's way cooler to build a Cobra R than to build-up a V6 or GT shell. The name is there, Cobra R brand has some weight and means something...

This will be for him (and us) a cool story to tell from now on, for good or bad haha :D

If you are going to use the 00R mechanical water pump, you will need to remove the coolant plug behind the water pump and may need to do some clearancing of the block for the water pump impeller vanes.
