My dad owned three 66 Caddy's at one point. A yellow coupe, a brown sedan, and a yellow fleetwood. Each drove like you were trying to drive a cloud. The steering was a suggestion as to direction you eventually wanted to go, as was the accelerator and brakes. Took some planning ahead to be sure the car had time to agree to do what was asked.

My dad T boned an '80's Citation at around 30 mph. Bent the bumper about 3 inches on the Caddy while it ripped about 12" into that Citation unibody, bending that car in the middle.

They never should have stopped making the panther platform..... Those cars with regular services lasted forever. I can only imagine how a crown victoria would be with a modern coyote and 10 speed auto. Im 1000% positive they would sell like no tomorrow!!
Most of the people who make comments like this would never and have never purchased a brand new panther platform vehicle. The platform should have been killed much earlier.

Sedans are a dying segment.

And with what has happen in the last 80 days they are not, but trucks and big SUV's yes they are the ones that are going to be dying. But guess who never really abandoned the car segment, I'll let you ponder there. That's right the Japanese look at Toyota,Mazda, Honda, and Nissan see anything different from the big three yeah they got like 3-5 car line ups to just maybe 2 to 3 or in the case of Ford no cars anywhere.

All they done was pare back production to just keep them afloat and concentrated on the SUV's as the main money makers. But with blundering Joe doing what he has just done it has now flipped once again to smaller cars. Again I see the mid 70's and how totally unprepared the US car companies are on dealing with this new crisis. All because each thought this truck, suv gravy train was going to be never ending.

Sedans are prosperity profits. The segment has been shrinking rapidly in the past 5 years as more consumers prefer SUVs and CUVs. Even the Japanese have seen their sedan sales slip significantly. The sedan segment is projected to continue to shrink over the next decade.

The big 3 can't compete with the Japanese when it comes to cars so I see it as a smart decision.

Here’s a real winner of an article on why pickup trucks have gotten bigger and more intimidating.

Petro-masculinity? Belligerently operated? Militarized grilles?

Do these beta cucks actually believe the garbage that they write?

Geez that was painful to read, written by unic apparently or at least giving that impression.

The people who want 6 passenger vehicles buy CUVs and SUVs now.

Anywho, yes it should have been killed earlier because it was an antique that did not fit the rest of Ford's portfolio. It sold pretty much to fleets, destroying its residual value. It was also poorly engineered and had terrible build quality.

Im trying to get at with more so of the mercury fleet not the typical P71 . So you really think if they had a grand marquis with today's technology motor and trans combos it wouldn't sell well? 3.5 ecoboost options and a coyote motor or a 4wd model wouldn't appease buyers? Terrible build quality i mean yea they arent the fastest sedans around but i know plenty of ppl that have over 350k on the clock and still going strong
