How long does it take for crude oil to form? I know, we've been told millions of years for our entire lives. Is there really any study on how long it actually takes? We've been told oil is a finite resource but is it really? With all the disinformation se've been asked to swallow lately, I wonder if this is another example of corporate media manipulation.
Minutes, using algae under extreme heat (350 degC) and pressure (3000psi). US DoE lab discovered that technique back in 2013. Of course, the technology isn't freely sourced. The government licensed it to a company called Genifuel. So, your tax dollars funded research into technology that you aren't allowed to use because a private company bought the rights to use it instead.

That will most likely be how we supplement drilling in the future.

Despite going EV, we still need hydrocarbons. Most everything we use today is a byproduct of them. Most every major chemical is derived from hydrocarbons.

The only way I will ever buy an EV is if they totally and completely ban gasoline. Which I highly doubt.

Besides the fact that all EVs are 100% boring, the entire premise that their promotion is based on, is a bit fat lie. They are NOT better for the environment. Quite the opposite.

So after you grow the algae, heat it to 350°C and pressurize it to 3000 PSI do you end up with more or less oil than you started with?

Way less measuring the energy content it took to grow and process...especially so, considering that 80% of the biomass is water by weight.

Well, there have been 4 new major gas stations in my area. And 2 new Buc-ees travel centers that I know of off of 95 here in Fl. Probably ~$15-20m investment, Dino is on it's way out but not anytime soon.

Same here, and not on the interstate, but local. I mean huge places going up.

I like how they try to spin it. They don't point out how the rate is simply returning to previous rates and the only reason the "second-largest increase" is because the previous year experienced a massive drop in the normal rate due to the world overreacting to Covid which created a data point outlier that real statisticians would ignore.

Looking for some insight here.

With this heavy push to electric vehicles, I have yet to hear anybody talk about people who park on the street, or in parking lots such as apartments. It is obviously easy to charge your car in your garage, but what percent of people do not have access to a garage/private property for charging?

Will there be outlets at every parking space on every street or in every apartment complex? Even if there were electrical charging stations on the street you must now have some way of the user paying for it unless they plan on giving us the electricity for free LOL! I can also imagine there being theft or vandalism of charging cords due to the copper inside. They're stealing catalytic converters already.

The Earth has a finite size and mass. So yes oil on our planet is a finite resource unless you think it can magically appear out of thin air. There may be oil on other life supporting planets somewhere in the Universe - in either our Milky Way Galaxy, a neighboring galaxy like Andromeda, or far-flung galaxies.

The ocean is rising because China is building air bases in the South China Sea.
That sounds like that politician that was concerned about an island tipping over due to a lot of construction.

The air bases would have to be massive to make a difference I think. Do you have a source about that claim?
