TVS gt500 TB option

I was wondering if the VMP throttle body is the only option for the gt500 inlet or if there was a less expensive option. I didn’t know if the Ford performance super cobra jet oval throttle body would work with that setup on a terminator.

I’m planning on getting a 2.3 with the gt500 inlet and want to know if I have throttle body options or not.

There is a Ford throttlebody that will fit it but the difference I believe is in the IAC passage. I think the Ford one would work on a Gen 1 Gt500 inlet but not the Gen 2 if I remember correctly. The price wasn't that much cheaper though at least back when I use to look. If you don't want to spring for the GT500 TB you can always sell the inlet you have and buy the Accufab style inlet. The GT500 TB is a nice piece, the cruise control and idle work like stock.

I’ll probably just get the vmp. I’ve heard good things about it but thought if there were other good options I would look into them too

A cheaper option that's not as good as the GT500 but is better than going Accufab or LFP, is the Dragon throttle body. But requires its own plenum too.

And finding a discontinued Dragon TB.

The annoying part of the GT500 is I swear it was like a $500 option when I got my gen 2. Now with the gen 3 out it is $800‽ I'd hit up @MalcolmV8 I buy most all my parts through PMs with him. He's up front about what he can save you and what he can't shave down.

I still don't get the Accufab hate. The newer style doesn't have the cruise control issue anymore. My buddy and I both have Accufab and they idle just fine. I had to to the cruise control mod to mine as it's an older model, but once that was done it's worked like stock.

I think it's because the VMP is bigger and nicer IMHO. It used to be a no brainer when it was only like $50-100 more. Now at an extra $300-$350 Accufab is just fine. Can't imagine makes much of a difference until you're maxing the blower out hard on e85. Like that other thread people trying to hit 800 on a 2.3 TVS might want to opt for all the goodies.

The market section. I guess I should have said that it wasn't going to be easy finding one now. I would like to find a crusher intake setup for my 2.3 vmp that is also discontinued, but that's not going to stop me from trying/looking.

The GT500 TB is $800 now? Went down $200 from when I bought my blower. I seem to remember it was a $1,000 extra on VMP's website. $800 was what they were going for used. I'll be looking out for one of those too, especially if I can find one cheaper.

Like Malcom had? I thought VMP is making their own big inlet now, again at a premium or did they stop. $1000 for the whole 2 piece or just the TB? It's $800 just for the TB now.

For both the TB and plenum. This was years back when they still sold the gen 2 vmp. Damn, so maybe they haven't gone down if that's just for the TB...

Hard to tell just found my conversation with Malcom but was just a total based on what I wanted so can't tell. Just vaguely remember people being pissed when the 2.65 came out the price went up, I could be confabulating. Don't want to share the difference but @Adamn should get in contact with @MalcolmV8 cause he saved me more than switching to a "lesser" TB will. Going through the re-read and great service too. Not dick riding but has helped me out a few times. Haven't seen him in a bit though, hope things are going well.

I messaged Malcolm a week or two ago about a fuel system. Once I pull the trigger, he's the guy I'll be ordering from. I just looked on VMP's website and I saw that they offer their own style crusher setup - a 5" CAI intake kit.

Yeah, not cheap waiting for a dyno run on my refresh and see if I REALLY need/want it. ****s with my MAF scaling due to the housing. I think it's bigger than the one I have now so the VMP MAF I'm running will be overkill and need to go to a stock slot style. Also back and for with chasing numbers and just keeping it enjoyable and realistic.

Yeah, I still want to keep my car enjoyable to drive. 04Sleeper tuned my car and it runs fine. I am hoping once I start doing a little more to it he can still work his magic and keep the car driving like stock.

Thanks for the info and suggestion. I will message MalcolmV8 and see if he can help me out
