A I am amazed with every step! That’s a TON of labor to sand and polish the bay to that degree and it looks amazing! All of the engine polish will reflect off that when the hood is open in sunlight. It will drop jaws

Thank you geoffmt! You are really too kind sir. You know I never thought about the engine pieces reflecting in the paint of the engine bay. Now that you mention it I think it will look great. My preferred color pallet is red, black and silver. Since the car itself will be red and black, my engine will be silver. So, it "should" reflect nicely in the paint.

As always, thank you for watching my thread and commenting sir.

Okay everyone,

You guys know that with my OCD I can't leave well enough alone LOL.

When I first had this car painted I asked my painter to install Shelby side stripes, but to make them G.T. 347. I did not specify anything else so that's what I got. I originally really liked them and was more than happy with the results.

Now that I have to change them to G.T. 427 I want something a little more original looking. Initially I found a graphics shop and provided the measurements off my fenders using the G.T. 347 graphic and, again, I got what I asked for. I posted pictures of that graphic here already.

However, the more I looked at it the less happy I was with it. The font is just a little off and the graphic is just not thick enough. When you look at the spacing there is too much space between the T and 427.

So, I ordered the original G.T. 350 graphic from a place called Tony Branda's. Now, if you know Tony Branda he makes a lot of the replacement parts for the Shelby G.T. 350 cars.

Once I received the original G.T. 350 graphic I took it to my graphics shop and this is the result.

Here you can clearly see the difference between the one I asked for and the original. Now, the one in the middle will be going on the car and will match the original font, spacing and measurements. Now, it is longer, but the height is actually the same (2 1/8 inch). Can't wait to get the new graphic on the fender.
GT 427 to GT 350.jpg

Here is how it is now for comparison. The middle stripe at the back of the 7 will go away to compensate for the longer graphic. This is how it is on the original 65 G.T. 350 side stripe. In 66 they went to a different measurement.

I see the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and bigger. It's all looking great, I'm enjoying watching all the fruits of your labor come together to make a outstanding ride in the end.

Thank you Grabber! Really appreciate your positive feedback and for always keeping up with my build thread. You, @01yellercobra, @geoffmt, @DSG2003Mach1, @biminiLX, @tones_RS3, @ToddW702, @CobraBob and a couple others seem to be the ones who provide the most comments in here. I really enjoy the feedback, questions and discussions.

Man, I wish I could share your optimism. I have been thinking about that exact thing. I do agree I'm making great progress. However, it's already May and this needs to be done by the end of September (that's 4 and a half months). I keep thinking about my "things to do" list and wonder if I will be able to make my deadline. I do have 2 weeks vacation coming up in June. So, that might help me get ahead of schedule. In my mind anyway LOL.

Just remember to pace yourself. You don't want to rush things trying to make the show. Worse comes to worse there's always next year.

Thanks Bob and I agree. Funny thing is my body makes me pace myself. Some times I want to keep going, but my back is sore from bending over in the engine bay or my shoulders are tired from holding the polisher so long or my hands get sore from all that sanding LOL.

It's funny how we can afford to do this when we are older, but then our bodies can't do as much as when we were younger LMAO!!!!

Okay everyone,

Made a ton of progress this weekend. First I finished cutting and buffing the engine bay. Got the driver's side and radiator support done.

Here you can see the top of the radiator support and part of the driver's inner apron.

Here is a close up of the front of the radiator support.

Lower portion of the radiator support.

Man, do I love it shinny LOL.

After I was done I couldn't resist and had to install the Ringbrother's hardware, just to see the contrast. I'm really liking it.

Sweet, can't beat that combo of red, black and silver......

After I got the cutting and buffing done I had to move on to the outer portion of the inner fender wells.

This was actually a happy accident. I knew I was going to Raptor line this area, but I originally intended to Raptor line it black, like the rest of the underside. However, when the Raptor liner arrived it said "tint able" on the bottle. I was like "this is not what I ordered." I went back and checked and yes, it was what I ordered. Damn, could of sworn I clicked on black LOL.

Oh well, I started to think about it and thought maybe it would look good body color since the engine bay was body color. I also thought body color would allow my suspension components to stand out more. So, I said what the hell and sprayed it body color.

This is the result........

Masking everything on the inside to ensure none of this stuff gets on my fresh paint LOL.
20210515_101141_resized.jpg

Everything masked and covered with plastic. Ready to spray.
20210515_111726_resized.jpg

20210515_101208_resized.jpg

Just checking to make sure there are no holes in the plastic. This Raptor liner does no come off once it's sprayed on.
20210515_111740_resized.jpg

Here it is in body color. I think it looks great.
20210515_160050_resized.jpg

Everything unmasked. Here is the Raptor liner side.
20210516_092640_resized.jpg

Here it is from the engine bay side. No Raptor liner made it in here. Sweet.
20210516_092651_resized.jpg

I really like this shot. Shows the difference between both panels.
20210516_092154_resized.jpg

Engine bay is now 100% done (Paint and bedliner wise). Inside and out. Man, I really like how this came out. Once the suspension and brake lines are back on it should look great.

So, everything you see above was completed on Saturday. So, on Sunday I decided it was time to paint the engine block. Taping it up and cleaning it was not fun, but spraying it sure was LOL.

Cleaned surface of oil so tape would stick. Then taped up rusty ass block LOL.
20210516_093827_resized.jpg

Got block all masked off. Time to start cleaning.
20210516_104719_resized.jpg

Got block cleaned up good enough. Block came out of a truck, so it was rusty and pitted pretty bad. I told my machine shop to leave the block alone as I would clean it and paint it.
20210516_112557_resized.jpg

After I cleaned it up I finished masking off the timing chain cover area.
20210516_120237_resized.jpg

Laid down etching primer first.

20210516_122025_resized.jpg

Then it was time for some high build primer
20210516_123859_resized.jpg

Made sure to get all areas of the block.

Then it was time for color and clear.

Some of you will be happy to know that the block is painted Terminator Silver Metallic :D...

Silver metallic sprayed.

It's very hard to capture reflection on silver and white, but you can see the block reflecting off itself in this shot.

Here you can see some reflection of my Roush banner.

Overall shot of the completely painted block.

Looks a lot better than that rusted out boat anchor LOL. Now, it's time to start the assembly process with my new powder coated parts (i.e. oil pan, timing chain cover, water pump, etc.).

Hello everyone,

Okay, I made another video. This is a compilation of 1 years worth of work on my engine bay. It only features the work I did on the engine bay from start to finish. I hope you like it and thank you for viewing it

Again, I know the music isn't for everyone, but as usual I'm sure @tones_RS3 will approve LOL.

Nicely done new video of the engine bay transformation. Man, your attention to detail is awesome, and the finished product is going to reflect what you put into it.

Thank you Bob! Always appreciate when you comment sir!

Yes, I get my attention to detail from my Dad. I remember I used to have to wash the family car if I wanted to drive it on the weekends. After I was done my Dad would come out and inspect the car. He would look at all the jams and the wheel wells and ask me "What about these areas?" LMAO. I was like you can't even see those areas. He was like, "I can see them when I open the door or trunk." LMAO!!!!!

Guess what? I'm still cleaning the jams on my cars to this day LOL....

Your constant forward progress is amazing to me. It's looking great. One question, I'm assuming that the hole in the tubing near the firewall is for access for some sort of fastener? Are you going to plug that hole somehow to keep moisture out?

Thank you Grabber. My brother used to tell me that as long as I do "something" on the car progress is made and I will eventually reach my goal. So, I try to make sure I do "something" every weekend. Even when I take time off (i.e. Mother's day, birthdays, etc.) I feel like I'm wasting valuable time LMAO!

I made that hole to run my headlight, parking light, horn and electric fan wiring through. Even the pipe sticking off the end of that tubing is where it will enter the headlight bucket area. I plan on putting a grommet there depending on how thick the wiring is. Worse come to worse I can fill it with some sort of sealant to keep moister out as I don't plan on removing the wiring.
