Slow and steady.

Transportation will be the next big (read as 'small') bottleneck in the supply chain.

I agree, unlikely they would suddenly have all the chips that they need. Still, they don't want all those 2021 models just sitting on lots either, it is causing changes to 2022 production already.

Interestingly, the Chevy dealer in St Cloud had a plentiful supply of white work trucks. Maybe a case of the dealer simply taking whatever was available?

That's Ford. Kia is not doing this. Which is one reason I have skipped buying or leasing a Ford the past couple of years. And Kia's cars are now very good. Their designs have improved a lot. They have all the tech. Performance has also gone up.

Um, kia dealers have been tacking on up to $20k on Tellurides all over the country, and people are bying them! We went and looked at a new Carnival and the dealer had tacked on about $8k to it.

I don't like the idea of it being built with missing parts and just left sitting for months on end.

Issues of mildew and rodents?

The industry I work in, if something is known to sit for a long time, that thing becomes free game for cannibalizing parts. Those replacement parts will only be replaced if the techs remember to write up a work order.

When inventory builds back up they will have to lower prices if they want to sell them. Supply is low demand is high. Soon it will begin to flip the other way.
They are not going to ever lower prices. The demand is there and people are willing to pay for it.

Interesting, I found out why the Chevy dealer in St Cloud has such a good supply of work trucks, $10,000 over invoice. ADM on work truck, lol.

lol, looking at all options to secure the best deal. I want to lease a expedition since they are ecoboost and I plan to tow a 6k-7klb travel trailer with it. Rather get a refresh every few years and not worry about the shortcomings of the ecoboost.

My local dealer only showing 20 car in inventory for 2020 MY and other local dealers showing similar inventory.

FORD

The automaker has doubled an incentive program for shoppers willing to wait for custom order vehicles, many of which are being delayed due the ongoing parts shortages affecting the auto industry.

The program is offering $1,000, up from $500 according to Cars Direct, on most vehicles in the lineup including the top selling F-150 pickup and Mustang.

Exclusions include the electric Ford Mustang Mach-E, the upcoming Bronco and the subcompact EcoSport, which is imported from India.

As with many automakers, Ford has gone through several rounds of temporary factory shutdowns due primarily to a shortage of semiconductor chips, but also other materials affected by supply chain issues. It has also been manufacturing some models incomplete and storing them in lots until the chips become available to be installed.

Dealer inventory levels had dropped to 33 days supply at the beginning of May, which is about half the normal level.
