Wanted to see if some of you fine folks had a similar experiences.

The wife and I purchased a ‘fancy’ washer and dryer from Best Buy online about 2 years ago. We also purchased a 5 year Best Buy/Geek Squad warranty. The washer has been very problematic and has had several warranty repairs since new.

A few weeks ago, the machine began acting up again. We call, the Geek Squad repairman comes and fixes it. The same day, after the repair, I get and email stating that my Best Buy warranty has been cancelled. I was confused since I still have 2+ years of my 5 year plan left.

So, I call Best Buy to inquire. I found that apparently my 5 year plan, isn’t really a 5 year plan. It’s 5 years, or repairs up to the original value of the machine. Needless say, I was very pissed. I’ve combed through the warranty policy and can’t find details about cancellations.

I’ve gone through a couple different outlets with Best Buy, and now I’m communicating at the corporate level. They have been giving me the run around. I’ve asked for them to show me info about policy cancellations. They have not, but offered me a $200 gift card. I declined and asked for them to do more for me. The rep I was speaking to has not responded to my emails or calls. I spoke to yet another rep and have gotten no response.

FWIW, the washer has a manufacturer warranty, but point is I purchased a 5 year Best Buy warranty under the impression that is was a full 5 years…not to be cut short by fine print details not stated when I purchased the warranty.

Sorry if too long. I tried to condense it.
Has anyone experienced this warranty issues with Best Buy?

You lost me at “Best Buy”.

Learn from it. Always buy from your local mom and pop appliance store thats got the history and the reviews to deserve your business even if they are a few dollars more.
Now you’re gonna waste your precious time on big store corporate bullshit and deal with incompetence in the form of a minimum wageCel that could give two shits about you your problems or your appliance.
Good luck.

This is good advice.

I'd push them to buy the lemon appliance back, but you're probably SOL.

I'd still keep at it until they can show where it says the repairs up to the value or whatever it is.

Going forward, they’ll never get a cent from me again.

Maytag

if theyre changing the terms possibly dispute it with the CC company if you used one?

Even from a purchase 2years ago?

I’m not close to throwing in the towel.

Get a copy of the warranty of their website and see if there is any thing about it. If not talk to a lawyer

It's all shit these days. My Samsung washing machine self destructed 3 years into it's life. I rebuilt it. 11 years old now, and I've been in there so much ****in around seems like we should have been married.. same story for the shit dryer. Thankfully these are simple machines.

Call the state insurance commissioner and ask if they govern any of the policies, I mean an extended warranty is a form of insurance and possibly might be subject to the states regulation. If not, they might be able to direct you to an agency that does cover something that specific. Just because the have a clause does not mean it conforms to state rules and regs set forth to govern business dealings.

The design obsolescence of these crap products are catching up to the warranty companies. Just went through this with Lowe's. They farm out the warranty to a third party. Long story short Lowe's made it right but it was the personal visit that made things work out.

I have a copy. It’s 15 pages long and very vague at times. I haven’t seen any specifics regarding the cancellations of warranties by Best Buy.

Is there a section on limitations that might have the maximum coverage limit verbiage?

I just bought the simplest set of GEs I could find. I wanted Speed Queen, but I’m disappointed by their newer models. The GE washer I bought is larger, has a dual action agitator, I can set the water level where I want it, and it does not temper the hot water. Very minimal electronics as well. I just hope it’s not a huge POS. The 20 year old dirt cheap Hot Points I have in a vacation house are still going strong. They are dead but simple.

I got so sick of shopping washers a d dryers a couple months ago that I nearly bought a 2-stroke Maytag and called it a day.

My experience with Lowe’s warranty was similar. Third party that Lowe’s reps schedule for you. My rental home refrigerator was leaking water. Google said it is a common issue and I thought it would be corrected quickly.

The repair people came to my residence, not my rental. Trouble ticket had correct address on it and I’m like you’re at the wrong house you should be 3 hours up north right now.

Called to complain and get service ASAP. Since my rental is in a remote location, next appointment was 3 weeks. 3 weeks later tech goes out and tries to unblock a line and ends up breaking the freezer liner.

I lost my shit with the incompetence and escalated with Lowe’s to cash me out for a new refrigerator because my in-laws live in the home and need a working refrigerator.

5 days later I got approved for reimbursement.

The bad news is I bought an appliance package and got steep discounts. I waited for the best deal for the same refrigerator and it cost us 300 more than what we paid 3 years ago. I bought the 5 year plan since we have no choice but at least we know now what to expect.
