Anybody painted their stripes on?

During the pandemic my car got kicked out the garage so my wife could have a staging area for deliveries, mail, groceries. Lucky me that during the day a dove decided that the trunk stripe would be a great place to practice tap dancing. I either need to replace the trunk stripe or just have all the stripes painted on. Anybody do this including the rocker stripes? How much did it run you and are you happy you did it? I'd love to do it but I bet a stripe kit would cost a lot less.

If I went into detail on painted stripes, it’s pretty involved to do it correctly. If cost/ease is a concern, then replacing the damaged OEM stripes would be the easy out.
But. Painted stripes for me was the way I went. MAINLY because the OEM robot paintjob that showed orange peel to the extent my OCD couldn’t hack it.
The new whizbang ‘20 GT 500, knob & all, get a Ford OEM robot spray, then go to a secondary shop for painted stripes. Pandora’s box IMO. The OEM spray was cleared. Then they sprayed stripes. Did they clear again? Did they color sand the entire body clearcoat to let the new clear properly bond/blend?
I doubt it. They more that likely blended the new clear over the newly painted/cleared stripes.
And that’s fine for a garage queen. But for exposure to the elements & long term, that won’t fly.
The 2 separate clear jobs will do just that. Separate.
It’ll be fine for a DD paint job, but isn’t what I’d consider quality for our type cars.
In other words even though I wasn’t going planning on this long version, if you decide on custom painted stripes doing it correctly requires the entire OEM clear to be sanded nearly off & re-clear the whole car. At that point, your painter can use clearcoat that’s far superior than what Fords robots use too.
So, it’s all about choices & the outcome you expect. Now I’m tired of pecking, & you’re probably tired of reading, lol..
Let us know what direction you take!

‘This is the results of removing the OEM paint, adding stripes & quality clearcoat. All stripes are invisible to the touch, buried under clearcoat. It makes for a good shine & makes wax/polish lots easier.

Yes I do but they use vinyl stripes for their cars. I found out later that you can opt to pay them to paint them on but I didn't even realize that was an option when I decided to Super Snake it.

I have never liked the vinyl stripes. Cool Cobra's stripes look great but that process sounds like it cost a mint. Maybe I'll just check around on pricing before I go one way or another. Frickin' Doves!
