^correct. Reclining seats will flatten allowing your body to move with them. Part of the engineering in all oem seats. Id send it with higher end exotics but not in a Camaro or Mustang etc.

Dale Earnhardt died this way. Extreme whiplash. An ~11lb melon affixed atop a stationary body, with your neck acting as the fulcrum.

Definitely taking a big risk harnessing up for the street. A factory car relies on all safety systems working in synergy to function effectively.

Nice video BTW. My intent was not to preach at you.....just looking out for a fellow gearhead.

+1 I was going to say this. Anyone wondering if they need a helmet/HAANS with a harness should look into how/why DE Sr died...

Prime example.

Earnhart seating position was the most reclined I ever saw in a nascar. It was so pronounced on one of his display cars back in the day i made a comment to one of the handlers at the show, and was told thats how he likes it. He also had modified belts, proved in the lawsuit after his death, so probably a weak example.
I was in a 145 mph multiple roll wreck with over 600 ft measured in the air at the silverstate years ago when the hans was new. I had the old style collar and the driver had the hans. I walked away and the driver spent several days in the hospital. I would venture that if the driver in your clip had the old style collar he would have fared much better. When we got out, I was surprised my arms still worked and have never raced without arm restraints again. BTW, I am always over protected even on track days, full fire suit, gloves and shoes, hans, and arm restraints. If I didnt have a hans and still wore a helmet, Id wear the collar.
