I am sure there is a thread on this. I have yet to figure the search option out yet. I can't find any threads! LOL!

My question is what is the best plug and play SC for a 1996 Cobra? Stock motor. I am just looking to make the car be Able to compete with the newer stuff. I would be happy with Low 12's ( am I dreaming?) I like the Kenny bell. What are everyones thoughts? I do not want to have to hunt down parts and miss match and modify. I just want buy it take to my shop and both it on. Obviously a tune would be in store. But I do not want to have to find this pipe that bolt or connector and change any stock stuff. Am I dreaming or is there a kit out there like that? Again Thank you all for the advice and info in advance.

Vortech with the Air to Water is probably the best setup that is easy to install. OR get the air to air if you don't mind some fabrication

Most of the vortech kits are pretty popular. A KB kit will get your around 360 wheel with some good fun tq. Any new kit you buy though is gonna be 100% bolt on minus the tune.

This would be my choice, as well. Very popular with SN95s. Not that expensive and easy to install. Do you have a tuner you can go to?

No I do not have a tuner. I’m in SoCal so if you or anyone knows someone please send me the info. I went to a mustang car show at a tuner shop last year and they had a dyno and were running cars. It was in Ontario CA and that’s all I can remember. Lol!

I have a S trim with air to air intercooler. Easy ass setup and only mods I had to do was delete power steering cooler line, and make a small hole in my fender well. Although you don't have to do that it was easy amd a straight shot using a 21" IC pipe that connects to my TB pipe. Took me all in all about 4hrs start to finish.

GTR High Performance. They're a one stop shop.

Personally I prefer Procharger. And they come with the air to air intercooler in their kits.

man this is the route I think I'm going to go with, was looking at about $4k to spend tops as I'm not looking for anything but a boost in power on the stock block and to add more fun, doubt I'd ever look to go past 600 - 650hp even with a built bottom end but I'm not certain

I’m going down this rabbit hole as we speak. I have the VORTECH V2 with air to water. I was putting down 430rwhp until I jumped a timing chain. I’m currently trying to sell my V2. Complete setup with intercooler and injectors. All brackets yada yada yada.

So now my engine is getting forged abs bored out to a 4.8. Picked up some long tubes with a mild blower cam. I want to buy a KB. The VORTECH is for track. I want a pure street car.

If I had a dollar for each time someone said this in earnest, and 5 from repeaters, I'd be pushing 1500rwhp by now!

Thank you! Thats the place I was at for the car show. I will be contacting them
I just saw your reply to my post. I'm a bit late. I was going to mention GTR. They've been recommended to folks in the LA area before. I've never used them myself, but they get good reviews. I think you'll be happy with them.

Wut? Plenty of people run a centri on the street with no issues. You should have kept the Vortech and dropped a couple pulley sizes. You would have been pleasantly surprised I think.

I still have the blower. I wasn’t crazy about it. Where I live it’s hot and humid during the summer and pure snow right now. I originally was going to upgrade the heat exchanger to a cobra one and pulley down to like a 2.5 ish ( can’t remember the sizes at the moment) and upgrade my tranny to a TKX. I did everything except port the Heads. What would I be making ? ( build in progress)

The KB won't fair any better in that situation. IMO ditch the air to water and go air to air. I never had an issue with my Procharged set up. Even in 100+ heat.

I think I ran a 2.7" on a T trim. But that was on a big bore set up with 4V heads.

Lot of variables before anyone can talk about power levels. Compression, fuel type, cams, intake, etc.

Hmm, with KB you are very much limited about 450hp max (blower cams, long tubes, .etc.) If you ever think you want go beyond that number, buy turbo or go for terminator/coyote swap

Just my 50 cents.

My goal is 550. I thought about the coyote swap but it’s not worth it where I am. And I also wanted to stay a 2v. My car sounds badass. The KB 2.1 won’t get me to 500 at 14 psi ?

even on a built block with a 2.1 KB 450 is my max i can look at ?
