- In the process of starting 2 businesses, both wildly different

- Go on as many trips as possible, life's too short to work all the ****ing time

- Gain Weight (I'm under weight for my height by a shit ton)

- Get healthier habits, lose unhealthy ones

- put more money in savings

- try like hell to get into a car with wifey sometime this year

Great thread idea @MG0h3 - what franchise you thinking? Wifey and I thought about that, but typically the capital needed, without immediate ROI, and needing full time attention, just didnt make sense

I’m looking at a couple different food franchises.

I’m good financially as far as capital.

Once you’re up and running, your manager should be running the operation. You need to be available at all times to take calls or what not but it doesn’t need to be full time.

Goals are:
1. GTFO Nevada as soon as I can sell my house and not pay capital gains tax (December 2022).
2. Move to a free state, likely AZ.
3. Find a new job, this could/should be number 1. I asked for a raise after 2.5 years with my current employer and got a pay cut instead.
4. Hopefully have a little money to spend on one of my Mustangs.
5. Find ammo at reasonable prices and buy as much as possible.

I'd be worried about finding a staff.

I was I I this close to opening a small burger (smash burger style) spot (just a grab n go) in our local downtown area before covid. It was going to cater to all the state workers and be open only for a few hours a day.

Thankfully we didn't push forward with it as 99% of all the state workers moved to telework full time.

I want to add a second laser engraver to the business so I can have one machine dedicated to rotary use like cups and bottles and the other for flat stock like wood and acrylic. I didn't really get a chance to make any wood or acrylic projects due to all the water bottle orders from club volleyball teams in the area.

To go along with that I'd like to increase sales this year. I went from about $2500 year one to $16,750 year two.

Links to my stuff in my signature.

That sucks man.
I almost feel your pain. Been asking for a raise for almost 4 years now. Finally I grew some balls, LOL, and pretty much demanded that I get a raise. As one of the best producers at work, I don't know why this would be an issue? Stupid.

I am literally the only person at my work who answers the phones and emails. A month after being hired I was given a raise to what I was asking for (below market value, I needed to pay my bills). In October (2021) I asked for a raise, just to keep up with 2 years of inflation, and asked to work from home and was denied both. My boss last month cut my salary in half and added commission from my sales. I have yet to bring home a check that is equal to my previous pay. I was so upset on Monday I thought about no call, no showing to protest my new pay scale. If I had a family I'd be upside down for sure. Replacing me will not be easy, it would probably take 2-3 people to do my job.

Time to find something else. I have had a nightmare of a year General Contracting. I made good money, but the unnecessary headaches I dealt with every single day were down right depressing or infuriating. I was at Lowe's the other day, and the guy there told me that for someone like me that already knows the parts and pieces they would start at $25 an hour to stock shelves in a department. My only bills are my house, food, and gas. I could pull 20 hours a week and make a living with 0 headaches. I have 2 weeks of work left, then I am taking February off and figuring out what I want to do this year.

Got a couple myself -

Moving out of the city of Madison to the suburbs to what we anticipate to be our "20 year home". Many reasons to move including bigger house, better schools, lower taxes and white flight. If it doesn't happen this year we'll look at building in 2023.

Kiddo will be 3 in April and we want him potty trained. Sick of this diaper shit. It's been hit or miss so far, he sometimes cooperates and sometimes straight up lies to us

Drinking has been declining for years and I overall I don't miss it. Time to cut it out except for a few microbrews on special occasions.

More gym time

Convince the wife she has energy for more sex

Just hoping to get my shit together. Divorce and single parenthood wrecked my life both personally and professionally. I put everything I had left into being a father and now that the divorce is done I need to get organized and start kicking ass again. The panic over Covid is making everything infinitely worse at work so I'll most likely close up shop in 2022 and go find someone to work for.

Hang in there man. I was in a similar situation which put me in a very dark time in my life. It gets better and before you know it, all that shit will be behind you.
