so i have a pretty strange situation. i noticed this time around my fan wasnt turning on. so for shits and giggles turned the ac on the fan came on then turned off the ac and the fan stayed running for about 10 seconds and shut off as well so i did it again and this time the fan stayed on by itself. turned off the the car then started it fan came on by itself this time. I had a bunch of coolant flowing out of the bypass tube at the time i tried the ac to kick on the fan..View attachment 1747153

That is odd, not the fan thing but if you have the crossover open with coolant like that pic and the cap off, the coolant in the funnel should flow into the expansion tank almost instantly.

right thats what i was thinking as well i kept having to fill the expansion tank and it just kept puking it out the cossover tube. once i turned the fan on well with the ac being switched on it settled all the way down. i just installed a new 180 degree tstat i mean itd be a hell of coincidence that opened at the same time i turned on the ac/fan right?

Jmo..I don't fill my cobra the funnel way,
Object is to remove air .

Blowing out cap.
That tank itself. Will Crack on the bottom, can't see it.

Lmr sells this cheap.

Another area for me was the fan connection,,
Intermittently fan operating,,
I had noticed a barrel looked far into plug. Reconnect with pushing wire inward,

My last issues with coolant blowing out cap.
Radiator couldn't cool enough
Car would overhead after 45 minutes of a drive.
Anything short you never know

Bty. Do you use anything like a fuel booster, think that gives a orange look on plugs .

thanks for the advice im going to check out my connections right now. After letting it cool down i checked the by pass tube it was empty so i attempt to fill it but noticed it was only traveling back to the expansion tank. Everytime i remove the bypass tube plug it keep tearing the o-oring . Im going to run it once more before i head to work im contemplating on taking it to work (15 mile drive) to see what she does. Its never over heated on me but it isna warm day today.
Heres how the plugs are looking like after 4k miles. Smell like alot of fuel. She is running pretty rich.

Use grease on plug. Dumb idea,,

Here is how I would have done in your place,,
System hold say 4 gallons
With tstat off a gallon or so is left,

I would try to get 3 gallons in .

I take radiator cap off ,take plug out,,
Fill till fluid comes out of of tank. ,put cap on.

Fill till I can't,
Put plug back on.
Run engine till 180 degs .

Shut off ,let it cool a little,
Remove cross over plug slowly. Once out than remove radiator cap. ..repeat

Fill at crossover till comes out cap ,
Replace cap, fill cross over till full.
Install plug run engine ..

How close to 3 gallons tells me how much is there.

Did your replacement tstat have a hole vs original?

When I did the 170. I added 2 tiny hole ,,they say air gets trapped here. Causing tstat not to open

For me. During issues I found

My guage goes straight up. Always..once it moves towards hot. Your overheating..

Live data .
My needle straight up is 180 starts to move at 228degs .

Tstat will never close to do its job .

Once I got mine working I can watch temp now go up and down ,,

My fan runs alot.

I would rather have a fan blade like older design. Worked just fine.
Guess it was a safety thing so we don't get our hand stuck in it ,

definitely need to get live data
forgot to answer your question yes the tstat has a factory weep hole.
for the plugs i thought it was a good i dea to put some anti seize on the threads when got the motor back in the car with new plugs probably wasnt.
well im pretty sure the fan should turn off once cooled so my guess is definitely air in the system or yet worse a small leak somewhere hopefully not in the heads. I will be getting my leak down tester tomorrow.

My last test for cooling.
Was using a garden hose.

At idle ,watching Temps..

Fan on radiator did nothing.

Water hose did make temp fall like a rock ,

3 core radiator and I'm good now
oddly enough been driving it like this for a good while.

so looks like worst case scenario after all.

How accurate is this?

Did you test on another vehicle for comparison
