So, I've been on a frozen lake on a snow mobile a few times. Old neighbor had them. Just a little PSA here, they don't float. Seriously. Also, when it's below freezing out and you get soaked from the waist down, don't waste time outside. Change out of the wet pants or you will be a popsicle...and your "popsicle" will be in hibernation for awhile too. Haha.
It was more fun than I had doing most other things. It was fast, loud, and a hell of a good time. Guessing the carts would be a ton of fun too.

They do cross open water pretty easy though. Just don't let off the gas.

I've been to races like this before. They race quads, go carts, dirt bikes, etc. Pretty cool. They all run studded tires.

Pretty common in areas where people snowmobile. They'll have bars setup on the lake and everyone just hangs out and watches the races. Bowl with frozen Turkeys its a fun time.

For sure; I only cross water if we have to. Theres a local event before normal boating season starts of trying to cross the river on your sled. Its only a couple hundred feet and most people make it.

But a lot don't. They have to tie buoys to their handle bars so they can find the sled to pull it back out of the river. I only watch this one.

Yep. My neighbor would go up to Northern Michigan every winter for 7-10 days. Only way around where he was were snow mobiles. Lots of bars and crazy stories from those trips. Maybe I should ask him when he is going next. Not sure that he will want to let me ride one again. We tore the one completely down and cleaned it out and repacked a ton of bearings. It ran after that, but not as well. Still ran fine, just not quite like it did before the swimming lessons.
I missed a turn and was stuck going down a little creek off of the lake and when I stopped, down she and I went. He said "whatever you do don't stop" and if I had stopped earlier, it would have never gone down. Live and learn.
It was kind of funny though. I don't even remember being in the water. As soon as the cold hit, I somehow jumped out and onto the ice next to it. Then, the front end fell in too....****.....haha

Watching the video, it seems difficult to pass another ice cart. Does look like fun.

When I was a kid I remember on tv seeing motorcycles race on ice with spiked tires. I think it was on the old ABC's Wide World of Sports. (The agony of defeat!)
