Vacuum guage will help.
My son just purchased a used truck. 1 issue he had was Clogged cat, causing truck to run like yours ,,no power and stall ,.
Who ever had this before pulled rear 02 to free Exhaust,
Fuel filter is my guess,
Hard to change,,very tight spot
Has these symptoms
I also had this issue to say just filter can cause this,
Coils have been known to get weak and not give codes,
Ford racing sold a set of 8 which some of us have gotten .

I had passenger side cam shatter,

Few valves hit,gear, upper chain adjuster cracked .
Cover can be pulled in car ,
Radiator and fan out you have enough room to work ,
I had done drivers side head with long tube exhaust attached ,
I also pulled engine to replace...
Look at wiring diagram .
From fuse 41
Power splices to rear 3rd brake
90-5
Power goes in multi switch. Than to rear lamps
C265 is at bottom
C202b is in steering column
I had issues at times stalling at a stop..
I had replaced all my coils for a jerk issue.
After I did notice the stalling had also stopped .
I never did get code for misfire

look at c265 its just above steering joint,
if this is unplugged you will have 3rd brake but no tail turn or stop,,
The only strange thing is you did say high mount works.
Which says it's other than switch,,
I'm assuming 33 will be hot with just test light,
41 have no power till pedal is pushed .
When I get home I will look more into harness.

Was looking at wiring diagrams and stop lamp tests,
This shows 2 fuses on that circuit and not 41 like test says .
I had some issues on brake switch after removing booster,
That tiny white sleeve broke,
Dealer was the only place to find new.
However even with new piece lights wouldn't work,
Installed without white piece it works.

Does this still have oem style caliper,,tiny pads.
I recall 1 time when my piston wasn't in line for post on pad .
Causing dragging wheel .
Than the guide pins being frozen is another,
I've had this issue.
Worn pads.
It's only during hard braking,
New pads always stopped it,
As stated don't add fluid,,
That window is actually a brake guage.
As pads wear level goes down .
I do suggest a quality pad for fronts.
The round clips that hold pad on I've found the cheaper...
