Looks like @1Kona_Venom's was actually $62 more than @2011 gtcs's quote. Still crazy, but not quite as much.
Shelby's ($392) shipping cost to Colo Spgs for one is $142 higher than the ($250) quote I got to ship it on my own FedEx account. Again, crazy, but unsurprising from SA! o_O
Not at all. Once you're custom tuned for elevation, you MUST install a sea level tune before/while descending or you risk lean AFRs that can cause detonation and window your block. In my case, I installed a few days before heading out, to ensure no problems. She ran a little rich until we...
I did that last summer, when we road-tripped the east half of Route 66 in it. It's noticeably more powerful with all that extra air. My tuner provided a sea level tune, to maintain safe AFRs, for such occasions.
My recipe falls a little short of your goal, but I'm happy with it. JLT 127mm CF CAI, CFM Twin Jet 67mm TB, VMP 2.4" Upper, 90mm Idler, BPS Oversized & Ported Plenum/Elbow, NGK TR7-IX plugs, VMP Triple-Pass Dual-Fan H/E, Reische 170' Tstat, and custom dyno tune from Elite Performance and Tuning...
A number of us have spent time in the "other forum" too. Unfortunately, it's changed considerably over the past decade. Multiple and diverse opinions have been largely drowned out by a small number of dominant voices. Discussion of all GT500 versions morphed into what is predominantly an S550...
No experience with the vendor, including whether they're reputable or still in buisness, but this site let me add one to my cart and move to checkout.
Your experience is making me wish I bought a spare.
"Uneven" really depends on your level of OCD. Mine (OCD) is pretty strong and I'm fine with how it looks - the pic @Dirks9901 posted above is my H/E, shortly after install. TBH, the biggest problem I have is how soft/malleable VMP fins are (compared to OEM) - they deflect with every piece of...
We have similar taste in cars. (y)
I was at B-J. I recall a handful of 427 '67 Corvettes crossing the block, but I don't remember any of them being L88s. Was it the silver coupe, restored with an L72?
I recognize that front-end. LOL!
Pretty sure I have a spare stencil, to which you're welcome. (The stencil I used came from Ky GT500. Unfortunately, he sold his Shelby and stopped selling the stencils.) Whether I can find my spare or not, I'm happy to take measurements for you.
I thought the same thing. A friend talked me into buying one at SEMA, where there were some savings offered. I still think they're expensive, but I also think they work well. I'd also offer their customer service appears excellent, with them quickly addressing a minor issue my friend reported...
Agree with recommendations to try alcohol, GOO GONE, and/or polish/compound.
As for physical implements, Windshield WOW! isn't cheap, but it makes hard-to-reach places a little easier to handle.
