According to JDM, here is the reason for the fluctuating boost number: "The boost jumps around because of the variable cams in these motors. When the cams are moving it changes load so the boost isn’t linear. It’s going to fluctuate 2-3 psi through out the run like you noticed. As you get...
Regarding your use of Sunoco, when I first got my car I used nothing but Sunoco 93 and continued to do so after I installed my long tube headers which, after ~50 miles or so, caused the car to start throwing front O2 sensor codes.
The "tune" on the car was a Bama - 93 octane tune and for about...
Car and blower look great!
I wanted to add my two cents on tires....I picked up a set of Nitto NT555 G2s (305-35-20) and I've been pretty happy so far with how they are handling the power. 1st and 2nd are still tough but I think the G2s are a better street option than the nitto drag radials...
S/C is what I wanted to do but I was simply using what I had available. I'll be removing it in a week or so, but just wanted to see what people thought. Maybe at some point I'll find a small S/C sticker or have a graphics shop make one and see if I like that better.
After the whipple install, I used the supplied stickers to create something unique and added an "SC" next to the 5.0 badge. I'm not really digging it but the wife likes it. Interested to hear what others think. Let me know. (And, before you say anything, I know I should have a black 5.0...
JDM custom dyno tune, 93 octane
I'll probably swap out the 3:73s sometime in the future, but living with them for now
And, "hearder" is how you spell header when you have two toddlers crawling all over you while you type;)
Obviously I agree with you and thanks!
3.750, Dynatech longtube hearders, hi-flow X, GT500 mufflers
The times that I've really gotten into the boost and have glanced over at the boost gauge it has been around 10 but I haven't had a chance to go full throttle for a long distance through all...
Thanks for the comments! I am very happy with how the install turned out. As for the color, I've always like the Ford "textured" blue and I was thrilled that whipple offered this color with its kit.
I agree, my initial thought was that the TQ numbers looked low, but after driving the car...
After months of looking at the boxes in the garage, I finally had my 2.9L stage 3 whipple installed!! JDM Engineering (here in NJ) did a great job installing the s/c and tuning the car (thanks JDM!!). Dyno graph is pictured is below. Blue line is peak but the car was dialed back a bit (red...

I agree with weather man, if you are going to be transporting small kids, keep the seats! I have 2 small kids and cannot wait to get rid of the rear seat, but until I have a new DD, I'm resigned to the fact that the seats have to stay.
