We just got speed cameras for work zones. Reads the plate, sends the registered owner a fine, no points. Only the plate is used for ticketing purposes. If you are 11mph over you get $150 ticket. 100mph over, still $150 ticket. I'm sure they are trying to change that.

There's talk of electronic "smart plates". They will have GPS and a data connection. It will solve the problem of older cars not having these speed limiters. If you speed, you will be issued a ticket through your license plate.
