    Car Show Etiquette

I'd like to think I'm respectful around other people's cars with regard to absolutely not touching anything ever, especially anything that's painted, since that's a huge pet peeve of mine as well. That said, I don't park anything I own at a car show or go to parking lot meets...would rather not...

FOR SALE: Howards 91168 hydraulic roller retrofit lifters, brand new

Brand new, only taken out of the box, wiped down, and placed in the bores for pushrod mockup. Decided to go solid roller in a 351C I bought these for and am past the point where I can return these, so they're priced for a quick sale. These are their "street" series hydraulic lifters and will...

    T45 clutch

I went with an 11" RAM Powergrip and FRPP steel flywheel. Have just started breaking it in, but there's no chatter (4.10's help here) and pedal effort is a bit lighter than with the stock parts that came off it. It's difficult to modulate the pedal from a stop, but I'm chalking that up to not...

    Parking brake cables rubbing driveshaft

I remember getting a recall notice for this years ago. Knowing that the console had to come out, I never took it in to have the fix performed. No issues with the parking brake ever...must be lucky I guess.

    T-45 questions

The 1-2 and 3-4 synchros are the same. Not sure about the input shaft, but I'd say they're probably not the same as the T56 due to gearing.

No Reserve: 2000 Ford Explorer XLT Sport on BaT

Our family had a '95 and '96, both totalled. Miss them.

    Any T45 guys here?

Yeah, if it was fine before the new engine and pilot bearing, the TOB would be where I'd look next, especially since the sound goes away with some pedal pressure on it.

    Any T45 guys here?

With heat cycles, pressed-on parts seating, and wear, things are going to shift a bit is my guess. I did measure a few bearings and the replacements were very close in thickness to the originals, but those differences will get exponentially greater if you have several bearings that are...

    Any T45 guys here?

Shimmed toward the tighter end of the spec, I was still able to wiggle the input shaft side-to-side ever so slightly which should mean everything isn't jammed in there, if that helps. Picture shows the loose end of spec, and even shimmed there, there was no perceptible up and down movement when...

    Any T45 guys here?

Video sounds a lot like a crunchy TOB, but that shouldn't be with 100 miles on it. You did mention input shaft endplay...Ford specs between .0009" and .002", so it looks like you might have had a bit much in there.

    Any T45 guys here?

Just finished rebuilding mine. Only issues it had was high rpm 1-2 grind and a leak from the tailshaft. Threw a few upgrades in while I was in there, but other than a cracked shift fork pad, the worn tailshaft bushing, and a shift rail bushing that was really pitted, it looked great...

    Current New Vehicle Market

Went to two dealers this past holiday weekend to order some hardware for my clutch R&R. There was literally one family looking at a used car among both those lots, both full of trucks, both flavors of Bronco, Explorers, and Mach E's. No other customers in sight.

    Current New Vehicle Market

Just bought the wife a new Lexus RX350; no markup, smoothest car buying experience I've ever had. I'd say it's a sign that things are turning around, but right next door at the Toyota dealership owned by the same auto group, what little new inventory they did have was marked up at least $2500...

BAT Old School and New School Broncos

Not seeing the value there, but damn. Luckily, the last big Broncos are still somewhat affordable and probably not that far behind in terms of collectibility. Didn't even bother clicking on the 2022's auction.

Anyone looking for a basically new 1995 OBS F-250?

Seems like that would be 4wd/PSD money.

    New Mustang Release

Need to see it in daylight, but my initial impression is that Ford should've adopted the Challenger/Charger "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach to these final years of the ICE Mustang if that's what this possibly is. Looks really bloated from that rear 3/4 view and the current front end...

    (QuickJack) Portable Car Lift

Bought one of these to lift the cab off the Lightning. Worked great, going to use it again to r&r the clutch in the Cobra this summer. Seems like the Quickjack would be better for minor maintenance stuff since it looks to be a bit easier to set up, but not sure you'd be able to get it high...

    Are all cats created equal?

Can attest to aftermarket cats not lasting very long; the Ford dealership I bought my Lightning from had to install a pair to legally get the truck sold, and I'm assuming they weren't the greatest. Was able to smog it a handful of times over the years and it did pass, but at about 10k miles...

    The Batman

Thought it was ok, but don't feel compelled to ever watch it again like I did with most of the Nolan and Burton movies. Pattinson turned out to be convincing in the role but the Riddler was miscast. Every time I see that guy, I remember his character in There Will Be Blood and can't help...

Second mid year price increase in 2 months

Fortunate enough not to *need* to buy anything for a long time, so I'm just going to wait this out. Was looking at SS 1LE's recently just to have a new toy to play with and the dealership I've been talking to won't budge off the 5k markup. No doubt they'll sell it for that, just not to me.

The catalytic converter thieves have become BOLDER!

Pretty common postings on the Ring app in our area. Someone even got video of one of these guys under a Tacoma at the Park-and-Ride down the street. Just glad everything I own is always parked behind a 6' gate.
