Ford’s one-of-a-kind GT350 raises $295,000 for EAA Young Eagles

As we recently shared, Ford Motor Company again donated a unique Mustang for auction at the annual Experimental Aircraft Association Gathering of Eagles held during EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. This year’s vehicle began as a Shelby GT350 but it was modified in tribute to the Ole Yeller P-51D Mustang aircraft that Bob Hoover flew to set the coast-to-coast prop plane record of five hours and 20 minutes.

Ford continues supporting EAA Young Eagles with a unique Shelby auction

For the past eight years Ford has constructed some amazing, one-off Mustangs destined for the auction block at the annual EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. From the Mustang AV8R (inspired by the F-22 Raptor) in 2008 to the Apollo Edition Mustang (inspired by the Apollo spaceflight program) in 2015, these pony cars have all drawn from aeronautical inspiration to fit the event’s theme.

Ford builds a charity Mustang that celebrates the Apollo space program

For eight years running Ford has graciously supported the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles program, which offers young people from ages 8 to 17 an opportunity fly in a general aviation plane. The Blue Oval does so by constructing a one-off Mustang, which is sold at auction during the EAA’s annual Gathering of Eagles event in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
