How about poping back over there and telling those guys that the 38xx weight is with the driver. The Coupe weighs 3665 lbs. Somebody over there is talking about 4000 lbs.

According to the June 02 Car and Driver road test, the cars weighs in at 3738 lb.

Was that with the driver? And how much gas in the tank? Coupe or convertable?

According to the Brochure:
Curb weight, coupe 3,665 lb. (1,662 kg)
Convertible 3,780 lb. (1,715 kg)
Fuel capacity 15.7 gallons (59.4 liters)

Curb weight includes a full tank of gas (aprox. 95lbs depending on temperature). 92 octane is 6.413 lbs/gal. @ 60 degrees.

Coupe:
3570 lbs with empty tank
+ 165 lbs driver
+ 25 lbs fuel
===================
3760 pounds with 12.5' 1/4 mi E.T = 380.492rwHP
That's pretty close to what shows up on the Dyno Chart

03 weight

Car and Driver has labelled the figure of 3738 as the car's curb weight. The test car is an 03 coupe. I've been a Car and Driver subscriber since 1966 and they've never referrered to the driver's weight so I'm reasonably sure that figure does not include driver or test equipment. For reference, in the July 01 issue they listed the 01 Cobra's curb weight at 3472 while Ford listed the 01 Cobra coupe curb weight at 3430 in the brochure. The discrepancy may be just "wet vs. dry"...the amount of gas in the tank. The CD 01 test car was wingless by the way. I'm inclined to trust the CD figure for the 03 as representative of a car with a full gas tank.

03 Cobra vs Z-06

A footnote: as far as the 03 hanging with a Z-06 is concerned, I wouldn't uncork the champagne just yet. The aforementioned ET was generated by Evan Smith, the same editor who coaxed a 12.89 @ 109 out of a stock 99 Z-28 (July 99 GM High Tech). I hear of Z-06 owners getting high 11 second timeslips and I'd bet that's what Smith would get under the same conditions. I believe he powershifts (possibly without clutching) and ices the intake between runs, which few other car testers do. I'll wait to see a direct comparison test; same track, same driver, same day.
