At the end of the day it’s his car and he can do what he wants. I think the majority are big terminator fans and it is discomforting thinking about a good example being taken apart and scrapped.
But I won’t think less of op for doing it

especially if you're factoring paying somebody to do the work and any dyno time, etc. mods aren't investments. the only way to come close to breaking even on them is to buy stuff used for a good deal and do the work yourself.

I say do what your heart desires. Many people that post in here are Terminator purists and dont want to see a cobra hacked up. At the end of the day I love Terminators, but at the end of the day it's still a New Edge.

My buddy just bought a 04 Cobra roller and dropped in a TVS powered coyote, pretty cool project. Some people fall in love with the car while others want to see what it can be transformed into.

I realized I risked some backlash when I posted this. No one ever wants to see a perfectly good car hacked up. That said, I have looked at from many perspectives. Getting a wrecked cobra doesn’t really work because I can use, and need to all of the brakes, suspension, etc. I think most arent thinking about the amount of small parts required and just listing the big ones.

As for the tech, I still really enjoy the rawness of the terminator engine and the T56. I know I could make more power with another blower but have always loved the scream of the old KB 2.2. What I don’t enjoy anymore is how old the chassis feels, especially being convertible. The ergonomics and layout just feel old, driving my 17GT is far more fun. That said 650 wheel horsepower, a screaming 2.2 out of a 3000lb 67 screams fun to me. Yes, that will feel old and raw, but it should. As for small or big block fords I know it can be done, but I don’t miss the days of old school dumb motors, shitty brakes and 3 speed automatics. A turn key fuel injected, supercharged 67 that will stop and handle will be unique, and fun. I’m not looking to get my money back, I’m looking to take the investment I made and take what I love about both cars to have something I look forward to driving.

Appreciate all the feedback guys, I’ll keep you posted on how it comes along. After all, it’ll still have the heart and soul of a terminator.

I'm excited to see how it turns out. When it comes down to it, it's just a car. I mean, it's a car we all love, but it's a car and you're about to mix two very nice cars together. Good luck!

All I can think of is the SN65 project from years ago:
    https://www.svtperformance.com/threads/the-sn65-project-car.134855/

I personally can't imagine ever getting rid of my car - but at the same, to me it is still a joy to drive. It makes me grin like an idiot every time I rev that engine under an overpass.

Although it seems strange to me to do this to a perfectly running Terminator - I do look forward to seeing what comes of this. It could be a cool SN67... :)

By posting it on here for us to talk about negates the fact that it’s his car and he can do what he wants with it. If that were true, we would all be clueless and the deed would be done...no fuss, no muss.

A true car guy would not kill a car because he’s crying over not getting payback for mods in it.

none of this makes any sense.

OP doesn't drive the cobra because 650hp is slow, and the newer cars have better technology. the solution he's come up with is to take all the good stuff out of the cobra and put it in an older, even less technologically advanced car that will require tons of time and money to make handle as well as the cobra does now. how does changing the sheet metal translate into wanting to drive the car? that's really what's happening...just changing the sheet metal.

if the issue is coupe vs vert, that's easy (maybe). buy a stock(ish?) coupe. swap the go fast parts to the coupe from the vert and sell the vert.

i just can't parse how putting the stuff from an "outdated" car into a significantly more outdated car ends up with that car being driven more.

it's certainly his car to do with as he chooses, andi don't expect my opinion to change his plan. just expressing what bothers me about it...it's illogical.

I'm trying to wrap my head around it as well. One less terminator, makes ours worth a tiny bit more everyday.

Heck I'm in the market for a foxbody mustang, with a whopping 225 hp lol. I'm in it for the looks and cruising around.

I completely disagree with your point.

By posting here does NOT negate the fact it's his car. Just because someone solicits our opinion does not mean the OP cannot do whatever he wants with his car. In the end, soliciting our opinion or not, it's still his car and ultimately will be his decision on what direction he goes with it.

The only thing the OP cannot do is complain if he does not like our responses because he asked for them.

Okay, I can understand how this does not make sense to you as you don't see this as a viable option. However, you kind of make the point when you say "taking stuff from an outdated car and putting it into a significantly outdated car." Also, your sheet metal comment also kind of makes the point as well.

The point is; taking 2003 technology and using it to replace 67 technology "significantly" improves the 67 Mustang and improves the enjoyment of the 67. Also, by replacing the 2003 sheet metal with 67 sheet metal you get a car that gets even more attention than the Cobra. Yes, Cobra's do get a lot of attention, but when you see a 67 Mustang driving down the street and there is a new edge Mustang driving next to it, which car will get more attention? Now imagine that 67 with a Terminator drivetrain and technology. The 67 is just that much "better."

I do not expect everyone to understand the method or the madness here. However, if you never thought of this or never wanted to do something like this it will sound crazy to Cobra guys.

As far as driving. I love driving my Cobra, but I love my 65 Mustang even more. However, the stock drivability of my 65 sucks. My ultimate dream would be to have the "looks" of my 65 combined with the driving experience of my Cobra. To me, that's the ultimate driving machine and I would drive my 65 Mustang with the Cobra drive train, technology and 650 HP all day long, over the new edge body style.

Yes, there are plenty of suspension upgrades and engine upgrades for the 65 out there. However, having the Terminator drive train and technology is just not seen that much in the first generation platform. This makes no sense to others, but makes perfect sense to me :D.............

If I had my 70 back I would do a 427 stroker based on a 351W, Richmond 6 speed so I could choose the gear ratios, and the TCP suspension catalogue. There are plenty of fuel injection kits out nowadays to make it run like a new car.

I guess I'm one of the weird ones that isn't into throwing the later model stuff into the older cars. Seeing a 5.0 out of a foxbody in a classic car just looks weird to me. I don't like the intake in those body styles. At least use a fuel injection set up that looks like a carb IMO.

The only other thing I don't get is him being upset about the return on the mods. We all know adding mods to a car only increases it's value to us. No one else cares as much.

if the stated goal were to improve the 67, it would still be nonsensical to choose a 15 year old drivetrain.

basically, stripping the cobra only goes halfway to "updating" the 67.

but hey, i see other people agreeing on things that i think are dumb all the time...flat earthers, etc.

as far as attention, i seriously question that as a motive. anybody who does stuff to get attention needs to really evaluate where they are in life IMO.

OP do you think the input on this major change over is going to be worth the output?
What happens in 10-15 years when you're over the 67' and now your out the money for doing this to two cars?

I agree with your points Bob. As mentioned, my wife put the kibosh on my Cobra/65 merger project LOL. So, I'm going to put the 347 back in it and I'm going with the Holley "Terminator" fuel injection set up. It utilizes a throttle body that resembles a Demon carb. Should look and work killer.

Instead of TCP, I want to get the Detroit Speed front end.

Aluma-Frame Front Suspension System - (1964.5-70 Mustang - Base Shocks - Ford 5x4.5" Bolt Pattern)

LOL on the flat Earthers and evaluate where you are in life comments........... I like the way you point things out Zredfire04. You're sarcastic without being insulting. Pretty cool LMAO!!!!

I don't think there's anything wrong with the Cobra platform. At the same time, that's what I'm familiar with. I wouldn't want to take a Coyote or other "newer" engine set up. Part of the "enjoyment" would be opening the hood of my 65 and seeing that Terminator motor.

As far as attention, I only meant that people "in General" would gravitate to the 67 rather than the new edge if they were side by side. Trust me I get enough attention in my Cobra or when I was in my 65 as they both sit.

I know you didn't ask me, but I thought (and still think) it would be worth it. I have had my 65 since 1989 and I'm still not "over" my 65 and will never be over it. I'm pretty sure in 10-15 years a 67 mustang with a Terminator drive train will still be valid and if the OP is too old to enjoy it I'm sure someone in his family will or he can make some pretty good money selling it.

Not sure what Project SN65 cost to build, but they had it listed for almost 300K at one point. Yes, I know, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. However, for me, my 65 with a Terminator soul would be priceless...............

Granted this is nothing new, but you have to admit it is [email protected]$$!!!

Hey I get it. I've had my 04 since 2006 and I'm still not over it.
And yes that thing is super badass and to each his own. I do hope you get the enjoyment that you're seeking out of it, otherwise nothing is worth it at all.

Thanks brother! I have not reached my goal yet as it has changed (again). However, I will be there one day.

This was my 65 before the motor blew and I started to think about the Terminator swap. Probably going back to this set up with a way better suspension.

those were the good ole days when people actually had balls. Now we got idiots putting everything in auto pilot mode while they video tape themselves for Instagram.
