Trying to clarify fitment of the driveshaft I just ordered, have the tranny in already with a stifflers crossmember, on my 98 gt with wheels on the ground I measured 55 3/8, the ford racing one i have coming is 56.29, so I'm assuming that the original poster swapped the rear joint to make it fit?

Shootymcstabby, I appreciate that, but I think mine is the same as the one on the left.

Ok, I have my new driveshaft (frpp mg4602) and now I understand why I need the 03 cobra REAR DRIVESHAFT FLANGE, My 98 rear driveshaft flange doesn't have 1350 u joints but an 03 cobra does. The ford performance rear driveshaft flange does not have the recess in it for the pinion nut to sit in. As far as length goes, the new shaft is about 3/4 of inch from being fully collapsed when at the proper length for my 98 gt which is 55 and 3/8.

After switching the u joints to the cobra one on my driveshaft for whatever reason the drive shaft came way out of balance. I took it to my local shop and they put on sonnax billet ends and balanced it and haven’t had any issues since.

Awesome , that's the info we all need, just found the flange for 99 bucks, so all in all the FRPP driveshaft is a bolt in option for the 6r80 swap. Thanks for the info.

you can make it fit if you want to use it like in the picture of my car. Take the top plastic piece off that holds the gear indicator. Split the two pieces of metal on the shifter and than sandwich them between the trans tunnel. The tunnel between manual and autos are slightly different. I highly recommend installing the shifter when the trans is out so you have more room to work.

You can also make it fit this way as well. With the same for mentioned splitting and sandwiching the trans tunnel. No cutting of the car. Only the shifter bracket.

Just done the 6r80 swap on my 2003 Eaton swap Mach 1. All I can say is wow it's worth the time. Took me about three days. The one piece Ford racing drive shaft mentioned before does work for my solid rear 8.8 but I had to swap the rear flange off the new drive shaft and use the flange from my old sleel shaft. You have to use a offset aka combination aka bastard u joint. Sizes are 1350 x 1330. Size is 3.625 wide from cup to cup both ways and one cup size is 1.062 this so the stock steel side and the other is 1.188 this is the new aluminum side. Moog 448 or Spicer SDH-5-648X . Figured I'd put this information out there because I had difficulty finding it. Also the clip that holds the transmission shift cable to the stock shifter it's a part number 4C3Z-7H181-AA.

I was able to use a stock shifter with no modification at all. Tried a b&m the output flange slapped the plastic cover on the bottom. Tolerance is tight on this swap.

Got started on my 6r80 swap... Pretty straight forward to this point.

One thing to note is the 10uF capacitor for the speedometer is no longer required for the gen2 quick6 controller

Seperating the 2 plates from the oem shifter wad the best option for mounting the shifter. This allows you to just drop in and bolt them together. All you have to do is drill out two small rivets.

Tomorrows goal is swap the pedal assembly for a mach1 auto brake pedal, wire the starter relay, trans brake and reverse lights

Hit me up if you have any questions on wiring or anything

Reverse light wiring can be done in the passenger side kick panel as well while youre in there doing the other wiring on the pcm.

Look at the wiring diagram for the connectors I am referencing and you will be looking for the black/pink striped wire.

Mach1 pedal assembly is in. Tapped clutch position wires for the starter relay using the gray quick6 wire for ground on the relay.

Also tapped the blue and black striped wire from cruise control for the manutronic shifting.

Got the main harness for the controller/trans wired up... I drilled out one of the holes that was already in the shifter housing to 15/32nds. Worked out well just had to cut out about 2ft of wiring out of the harness

Found a way to utilize the 4r70 shifter cable since I didn't have the mustang bracket. I used the pbh f150 shifter cable bracket on the rear 2 bolts on the trans pan and bent the bracket just a bit with a c-clamp to tighten the fit on the cable bracket. Finally, I followed it up with some safety wire to make sure the cable never has the chance to fall out.
