Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some information I need to do this project- Converting an 05 Lincoln Aviator Engine To an 01 Cobra Engine. I just need to know of all the neccessary things that need to be changed over, I realize the intake manifold, the front cover, the engine harness, and possibly the oil pan are all different. I was wondering if anyone had any other information about this type of conversion. Also, if anyone has any info on wheather or not the camshafts are different between the two engines, i have a set of 03 mach 1 camshafts but don't know whether or not to swap them, or if it would make a difference. I would really appreciate the help!

Mach 1 and Aviator cams are the same and they aren't as good as those in an 01 Cobra. To get the most power install the 01 intake cams.

The 01 oil cooler will need to swapped over also. Oh, and you will need a 6 bolt flywheel since the cobra flywheel has 8 bolts.

The Aviator also has a cast crankshaft compared to the forged cranks that the Mustangs have.

I have the Motorcraft spec book for '03 (my Aviator is an '03), so it might have the cam specs in there. Will look it up sometime later for you.

cast, forged, doesn't matter. What matters is that the crank accepts only 6 bolt flywheels/flexplates. Also, the cams are the same as those in 03/04 Cobras. Machs, Marauders and all 4v Navigators, 184 deg intake dur/196 exhaust dur.

Yes, I originally had the six-bolt and eight-bolt comment in there but it would have been a re-post, so I erased it...

On a good note, that '05-up WAP block is the same one that is going in to the FRPP Aluminator! If you get the chance to check the casting number down on the lower right side of the block, I would be interested to hear what it is to be 100% sure.
