Finally working to get this on the road this summer. Little history on the car.
Man who bought it new in 40’ went blind immediately after buying it. He went to church where my great great uncle was the preacher. He gave him the car in 1941 with the understanding he would drive him when necessary. My grandpa bought the car from his uncle after returning from Korea and drove it almost daily until 67’. It sat from then until 1994. My grandpa started work to get it road worthy but he passed away shortly after. Car was left to my dad.

Intentions are keep it nearly stock, maybe some 50’s era mods and lower it a bit. Initially I’m just getting it driveable then going from there. 85hp flathead V8 standard business coupe with fold down opera seats (in the trunk)

As it’s sat in the barn for the last 25

Jim that’s awesome and the story is even better! Looking forward to seeing the progress in this one!

And nice mullet buddy! Hoping you blow up and frame that pic!

Thankfully not reviving the mullet! I think you should have seen this posted back in the day on SCS. Did I show it to you when you were here? Finally getting motivated to get it out. I work right beside where my grandpa worked all his life and commuted with it. It will be a nostalgic ride to work.

Forgot, I have the first issued owners card for it too. My great uncle tore down the house the first owner lived in. Ripped off the mantle from the fireplace and the card had fell behind it.

I don’t remember seeing the car when I stopped by, but you and your Dad did have a lot of neat toys all over the place. But this one takes the cake. Nothing like a well-preserved original!

So you’re LS swapping it?

J/K. :)

Lots of stuff has come and went since you were here last

Wow, what a wonderful story. Really.

My dad's favorite car was his 40 Ford. He had many cool Fords, but his favorite and most missed was his 40.
I always wanted to find one. I'm looking forward to following the build.

Sent from my LG-LS998 using the svtperformance.com mobile app

Always been important to me to get it mobile again. The cars really solid yet. Motor was rebuilt in early 90s. Still turned over last year so I’m hopeful I’ll have it running in no time.

I say +1 for the mullet (i myself have one) pretty kickass collection too. Just last night I watched a movie called hot rod that came out in '79. Guy had a Coupe just like yours that he drag raced. Certainly one of my favorite hot rods of all time. Can't wait to see what you make of this one!

Love it. Good luck with it and I'm glad to hear you're keeping it stock-ish.
