Love the way this is comming out. Cant wait to see more. I have an uncle that has a 68 camaro that has been parked for years. Ive been trying to buy it since I was a youngster. This thread makes me want to start asking him about it again. I love the white and black seats that were posted. Is Houndstooth what that pattern is called?

Yea it was a bit of cash in lights. About $475 in lights alone. Had to buy tools and some materials which added to the cost as well. One of those areas you'll always appreciate the investment however.

Sounds awesome. Definitely go ask him about it. He should appreciate the fact that you want to keep it in the family. Especially if it's just sitting dormant right now!

There are a few different patterns for first gens for houndstooth.

White Houndstooth:

Black Houndstooth (common type):

I will have updates on the car later today. I have to help my dad install a clutch in his car so time is limited for online time today.

Fine I'll put up some teasers before getting into any details.

That's all for now. I can get into specifics later on areas of concern. Obviously you can tell (and as I suspected) quarter panels are "rough." Few surprises like small rust bubbles (common areas just didn't see it) in the roof cap on windshield channel, and down by the vin on the sealing surface of the front window. Both areas are very small but still should be address and patched at the very least. Bottoms of the front fenders need some patch work and the doors need some patch work. Trunk lid will need to be replaced.

See my post above. There was a boss there but I believe it was a 70. Sadly the boss is an original car that was "stored" in a goat pen. It has MAJOR rust issues and dents as you'd expect from goats jumping and pissing all over it...Kinda sad...

Yea, sad how some cars like that have been stored. At least someone is trying to save it.

Your Camaro project is awesome. Best of luck with it!

Got a call around 10am saying the body of the car has been primed. They were working on fenders and small pieces. No call to pick it up yet so I'll plan on picking it up Monday. That's ok as I have some more work to do in the garage getting it ready for the car/project.

Here are a few detailed shots to hold you guys over until I get the primed pictures.
Tail Panel:
Showing most the bondo on panel.

Not a lot of updates. Not a whole lot of sanding to do. Car was blasted so everything was removed until we got to a point that we knew the panel was going to be replaced.

Updates I guess are:
Car is back in garage and setup for temp storage while parts collecting and body shop is decided.

Almost done working a deal on all the body panels. Going to have about 2500 in sheetmetal/parts alone.

I have been waiting for 3 weeks for a quote from a reputable resto shop by my house. Kind of frustrating since I went the extra step of actually taking the car to them so they could look at it...That was 2 weeks ago.

Still trying to decide where the car is going to go. I really just want the exterior metal put on and we can do the sanding/blocking and maybe even painting. Been a frustrating process dealing with body shops already and I haven't even dropped the car off!

Big resto place gave me a ROUGH quote to do a car in "driver quality" and it was $18k.

Ok so been a little while since the last update. Between starting a new job and TX2K11 and Tx Mile time for the 69 has been next to none.

I have been looking for parts and collecting what I can. I guess the major update for you guys for now is that the car will have a major ford component (this should make you guys happy).

Hoping to pick it up this weekend, just need to take a few measurements and see it for myself.

dse-ford-9in-001-pp.jpg

Detroit Speed 9" rearend for quadralink rear suspension. Supposedly new in box and packing 31 spline axles and a ford tru-trac diff w/ 4.10s. He says it's narrowed so I want to see how much. I wanted narrowed but hoping for only 1.5-2" on each side.

For instance this is what the complete rear suspension will look like:
