Im back again, I enjoyed doing the others so here I am back to document yet another.

After finishing my 85 a couple of years ago I have been enjoying the car, the thing I have enjoyed the most is the time my Dad and I have spent together building it and enjoying it. He absolutely loves beating on it so I figured, how cool would it be if he could have the same car and we could enjoy building another....

So here we are. I picked up a 1986 GT that is also Jalapeño Red however interior is different but its very close.

Car came with years worth of receipts and documents.

Car has a 5 lug swap already, I have to still replace the booster but the rest of the work is done. Engine is a stock bottom end 302, has been freshened up, new rings and bearings, trick flow heads, bullet custom grind cam, Edelbrock intake, and the rest of the supporting mods.

I will say this one will be a slower process than my last build was so bare with me here.

Cool build.
Strange to see the stock airbox in front of all those mods ;)
I had forgotten what a stock Fox Body intake system looked like, lol.

I look forward to this build , should be great.
I for 1 hate red interior .

LOL, you and I both! I have a friend who added a lot of black touches to his red interior and I must say it grew on me. I like this interior because its clean. I will probably build this to be a cruiser first then next year do something all out. we will see.

Cool build.

I kinda like it, says im a basic B but when she's fired up sounds pretty healthy.

Speaking of how it sounds.... below is a video clip I took.

So far I have ordered all of the rubber seals that go around the window, these have seen better days

Also ordered a set of pypes 3" tail pipes. They are the same as the flow masters that dip down low but are all polished stainless... we will see how they are.

Took my car over to my buddies shop who details my cars when im far too lazy to do so... took a few videos as I am really impressed with how this stock bottom end does. Its healthy.

Funny thing is the guy I got the car from was a follower of mine and even got the same exhaust my 85 has. the cars sound close.

I am having the hood decal removed, all the glue from the moldings and the paint will be corrected as well as ceramic coating. I got one teaser pic lol.

I figure I will give the people here on SVTP all the inside information first and let the rest of the world that watches from Instagram do all the guessing...

if you follow my IG you saw these pics..

Now if anyone is paying attention I hash tagged "BC Forgery". I have kinda dubbed this as project copy cat. so since Im not sure what direction I want to go quite yet and I needed new tires I bought some cheap wheels and tires. Wheels happen to look very close to BC Forged LM10's. hence the "forgery" hashtag. I am having Tom Clark make me some custom center caps.

BC on the left. knock offs on the right.

This made sense to me because when I bought 285's for my BC forged wheels they ran super wide so I bought 275's to see if those fit better, well those looked stretched on my BC forged wheels so I put the 285's back on. well when you mount tires they are yours. so I had these 275's sitting around so I went with an 18x9.5 in the rear and the 275 fits perfect. fronts im running 245/40 on a 8.5 since I knew those would be perfect as thats what my bc forged are on my 85.

Anyhow im waiting to get the car back so I can mount the wheels on it and get my center caps... Do me a solid and don't spoil the fun on IG, I want to see if anyone catches on... would be even funnier if BC actually reposted my pics lol.

Finally getting around to updating this... There is a twist at the end.

So the car had a lot of little issues that drove me nuts. Paint needing correction was one of them.

As you can see by the before and after it was real bad. years of oxidation. chalky paint.

I paid for decal and tape removal and a paint correction. from a distance it looked amazing but this last trip ended a long 10 year relationship with my detailer.

While I paid for sticker residue removal I was left with a lot of residue as seen on the hood.

May be difficult to see but there is paint discoloration here on the fender where they removed the 5.0 residue.

Anyhow - they told me it was done, they didn't detail the bottom half of the car and didn't even wash it. They lied to me and said they did. Im done with them.

got the car back and put the wheels on and took some shots.

In the middle of all this I moved into my new home and got bot the cars in the garage.

Nothing like crisp closing doors after the new door seals, window seals, inner and outer dew strips. no rattles etc.

All ready for the new owner... WAIT WHAT? Im sure many of you saw this and already know but I was offered the right amount of money for it and I let it go. Another failed build thread but this car had too much stuff that drove me nuts. the biggest issue was the dent in the quarter panel.

Here is the farewell video.....
