Ford used the stock Mustang front upper strut mounts (with slot modifications for camber) on the 2000 Cobra R and yet every forum says you have to use camber caster plates on lowered Mustangs. Why didn't Ford on a track specific car?

It was a balancing act with bang for the buck vs what was more significant. Ford did the hardest items they felt were worth doing and they could get value out of. Lesser items they left for owners to change and/or modify. CC plates are one of them.

Thanks, Ford must have thought it was ok to use the stock stuff on a lowered Mustang.

It depends on how low you go. Mild drops can usually work with the stock plates. Or get close enough to be ok. I'd say more than a 1.5" drop needs plates.

Exactly. Mildly lowered

Lower your car. Get it aligned. If it can be aligned in spec you don't need plates. If it can't, you do.
