For sale is my 2001 Mustang GT Bullitt Edition, authentic Bullitt. It is Bullitt 1091 but I am presenting it as being sold as a non-opt race car, as that is what it has been built and used for over the last 5-6 years. It is a turn-key, ready to go track car that needs nothing but routine maintenance and fuel.

Before I get into the specs, let me tell you a little bit about the car.

This car has been competing in American Muscle Cup Time Attack Series, NMCA Autocross Series, Optima's Search for the Ultimate Street Car as well as various open track days for testing and tuning. It has won multiple NMCA West Autocross Series events over the last 2 years as well as being the oldest car (production year) to win the "Modern Muscle" Class (All late model Camaros & Mustangs) and make it into the Pro Class at NMCA. It finished 5th overall in GT class at Optima's Search for the Ultimate Street Car at Willow Springs back in May 2021 which competition is from all over the western region. The car was also invited to compete at the Optima Invitational (OUSCI) in Las Vegas in 2019 and was on display at SEMA all week prior to the event. The car has been supported by many reputable performance parts manufactures over the years as well as being magazines for racing results.

Here are some lap times at West coast tracks:
  • Auto Club Speedway - 1:52
  • Auto Club Infield - 1:14
  • Big Willow - 1:34
  • Streets of Willow - 1:24
  • Chuckwalla - 2:04
  • Las Vegas - 1:56

The price is $25,000. I understand the slim market for such a car but there aren't many New Edges built like this that can show up to an Autocross or Track day and out perform the likes of GT350's and ZL1's. Yes, there is some sentimental value here but this is a very unique build. There are plenty of NASA/Time Trial New Edges out there but this was built to maintain many of the presentable aspects of a "street" car and not quite fall into the category of a clapped out race car, which is why did does so well in the Optima Series. This car can show well in the best of shows, drive down the street for a road trip as well as produce results on a race track.

This is pretty close to what I've imagined for my Bullitt project.
What do you mean sold as a "non-opt" race car?

So what does that mean for title status in other states?

It has nothing to do with title, the title is clean.

This pertains to how a car is registered in the State of California. You can Register it as an operable vehicle to drive on public roads as long as it passes smog and you pay registration or you can choose to have a vehicle planned non-operable for a small fee.

This vehicle is planned non-opt as it is only used for track time and is transported via trailer.

If this vehicle were to be owned by someone in another state you can choose to register it as long as you follow your state guidelines and regulations.

I hope that makes sense.

If only I were closer.....My Bullitt has many of the same suspension components, but basically a stock motor. My Son and I use it mainly for autocross here on the East Coast of Canada. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
