2004 Cobra 2.3 whipple / nitrous coupe 1/4th *video*

Got the car back out to a 1/4th since my last outing in the 8th mile track rental where is went a string of 7.0x @ 102. Since then I changed rear gears to 3.31 from 3.73's and had my diff rebuilt. Needless to say the conditions were better air wise but we had a 15-20 mph head wind the entire day.

After my first pass where I had fuel cut on the third gear powershift I immediately went back and ran again.

The car was holding on the 3-4k dump on the prior pass so I did that again. This was the first time actually making a full pass and I thought I was going to be able to make it without shifting into 4th, I was wrong and when I did it was pissed as you will see in the video.

1.655 60ft
7.039 @ 101.01 8th
10.880 @ 121.4

Next pass a member here TurboTrail and I ran and he had just cracked off a 10.1 @ 138 or so and I said **** it i'm going to try out the spray vs him. I wanted to leave at idle as this wa smy first pass on the spray and didn't want to break the tires loose when it hit, needless to say not the way to launch as it bogged, bad.

2.04 60ft
7.25 @ 107.86
10.87 @ 137.9

Turbo trail ran 10.19 @ 139.95

I was pissed at the launch, literally went around and made another pass vs his brother on the spray. Clutch was starting to smell some from the last pass (800ftlb doing work to the RST). I launched a little higher but still had bog.

1.73 60ft
6.90 @ 107.7
10.53 @ 136.69

Red car ran 10.55 @ 134.9

Next pass I let the car and clutch cool for an hour and ran the red cobra again on just blower. Launched somewhere around 5500 and it went good. I wanted to have a decent blower pass hitting the gears to get a gauge on what the nitrous was doing for the car.

1.61 60ft
6.93 @ 102.55
10.73 @ 129.2

red cobra ran 10.799 @ 132.82

The car was 3880 with me in the car and the nitrous bottles filled.

Blower torco tune it makes 610/56x
Nitrous is a 100 wet shot via nano nitrous and it makes 77x/79x

2.3 whipple gen 2 17-18 psi
Mcleod RST 26 spline
IRS with FRPP diff and FRPP 3.31's
Killer chiller (charge temps never got over 90* before a pass and ect was 170-172)
Steeda springs, MM CC, subframes, front sway bar removed.

I'm impressed with the car on blower for being how heavy and lack of suspension mods

stock 17x9's with 26x11.5 et streets bias ply on rear.

I think it has a tenth or two on blower and the nitrous on a solid launch and the clutch not being pissed off is knocking on 9's @ 140's.

It was wild on the hit when the nitrous came on but SGMP valdosta is a hell of a track and on the big end i'm either used to it or it was fine but I didn't notice anything alarming sway wise, just let off and don't jam the brakes right away is my method, I let the car slow down by gear a little before the brakes.

LOL at your knee all up in between the steering wheel and door panel. I think you need to put an airplane steering wheel in it for clearance

I figured the car would be heavier with you, the whipple, n20 kit. It's still a land yacht, but could be worse I suppose! The little stock motor that could is hanging in there! Also not bad for being on a 17 with a shit ton of instant power!

I'm still shocked the IRS went home operable with 5,500 launching lol. Guess you'll just have to wait to break it at pony wars. Conditions should be much better. You've convinced me to buy the killer chiller. I was packing all that damn ice in my tank and you sat in your car with the a/c on.

Killer chiller is awesome, all I'd need to do is just throw torco in the tank and its the same consistent car on the street or at the track. Don't get me wrong if it was iced like yours it would be cooler iat's but mine weren't over 90 after sitting with the car on for 30 mins at one point. The IRS is going to live as long as it wants and I love the ride of it vs a solid as I've had in a previous cobra but no way in hell can I do what I did on a non bias ply tire, I'd shoot a half shaft into the stands.

Great runs as always man.. I really enjoy your videos..

That poor little clutch is holding on for dear life hahahaha!! At somepoint you might have to send it back to McLeod and get the RXT disks thrown in there :)

IRS can livea healthy life as long as right tires are used. Also having FTBR busings helps alot with deflection, that stock rubber have. I myself have planty of 6k rpm clutch dumps on my cobra with IRS.

Like turbo trail said, running out of gear and with these stock pumps they were getting un happy over 6100 on the spray. I had 3.73's before and a diff that needed a rebuild, I also have a few different tires that are 26's so going to 28's would've made those useless. I'm very happy with the gear choice and 3.27's would almost have been better for blower only as I could do without shifting to 4th right at the end.

Gotcha gotcha, gotta love the long gears! My buddy ran 26's for a little while with 900+whp and 1100+wtq without much of an issue. He's jumpin up to a 28 to knock it down just enough
