Got the deal of a lifetime on a 2006 Mustang GT in Satin Silver. High mileage on the chassis(170k+)but fresh engine in it. Picking it up tomorrow. Originally a Georgia car so rust should be at an absolute minimum.

as some know, I run a team in the Champ Car Endurance Racing Series. We currently run a 2002 Hyundai Elantra in Class B(1.92L - 2.4L engine size) and have been somewhat successful at Class podiums with 1 win at the 12 hrs of VIR South in 2022. We have been itching to get faster and into a better platform for the last few months. This car will replace the Hyundai and move us from Class B into Class D(3.92L and higher).

Plan is to get the car to the storage location for now. Assess what it needs prior to going off to get caged.

Car starts at a VPI(Vehicle Performance Index) of 530 points. Every 10 points over 500 gets you a -1 penalty lap assessed at the start of the race. Plan is to keep it under 750 points total to give us a competitive chance.

Points Upgrades(revised):
Caster/Camber Top Hats - 20
Billet IMRC Deletes -25
3.5" Aluminum Driveshaft - 10
Adjustable Panhard Bar - 10
--------------------------------
VPI add = 65 = 7 laps

Points Free Upgrades:
Dampers - Steeda Pro Action
Springs - Steeda Competition
Powerstop 4 Piston Front Brembos + 14" Rotors
SVE 14" rear rotor upgrade w/ brackets
EPAS Conversion(reduce overheating power steering)
90mm intake
GT500 front control arms
GT500 rear control arms
Catalyst delete + Axle back
18x9 + 275/40R18 Nitto NT05
18x10 + 295/40R18 Cooper RS3

This is my second S197 car and i look forward to building this over the next 6-8 months to get ready for March of 2025 at 12hrs of VIR South as its debut.

Plans are to mimic the FR500C cars from the mid 2000's which i loved. Something like this:

What about Maximum Motorsports on some of the suspension upgrades?

Sent from somewhere in the twilight zone…

Will more than likely be using the caster/camber plates from MM.

The other items we will need to see how our VPI stacks up and how many penalty laps we can go down before we are fully out of contention. Going over 1000VPI puts us into EC class(exception class) which cannot compete for any class wins or the overall win.

2. OE front inner fender liners
3. OE front turn signal lights
4. OE GT/GT500 mufflers

Cut up some 3" speaker ports and drilled them into an aftermarket OE type lower grille for some brake ducts. Ordered Full Tilt Boogie 3" backing plates and will run 3" high temp hose for the brakes.

Will get the 275/40R18 NT05's today. Mount and balance tomorrow. Should have them installed on the car on Monday.

Anyone have a set of stock exhaust manifolds laying around they dont need? We need to switch the long tube headers back off to save VPI points.

Brake lines came in and two tow hooks for the front/rear. Will drill the bumper beams and bolt them in place.

Does anyone have the original style(non-billet) Charge Motion Control Delete Plates from Ford Racing? To eliminate VPI points we can eliminate using the billet versions from Steeda.

i like the novice driver sticker

never realized the grille was part of the bumper assembly on those
The novice driver sticker was a joke which then evolved into the "Shiti" driver sticker. We were going to add "AOK" driver on the next race but then the Mustang came into play.

The grille is clipped into the front of the bumper then is secured with some bolts into two pieces of plastic which are mounted into the header panel. Once both are tied together it should be quite rigid.

SCT X4 7015 came on Friday from Unleashed Tuning. Will grab the strategy code today and get it sent over to have Torrie work his magic. This car should boogie with the 93 performance tune.

Also got the NRG short hub and quick release. I had two steering wheels for the old Hyundai Champ Car so i am going to use the smaller one(330mm IIRC) on the new hub/quick release in the Mustang. Hoping its not too big of a wheel but cant find any information on the Ford Racing wheel to compare(anyone?).
