Front end done!

Struts, springs, camber plates.

Used the Vorschlag tool to cutout the strut tower….worked excellently.

New GT500 front rotors, GT500 calipers and Full Tilt Boogie backing plates.

Removed chrome strut tower brace.

Fixed bumper in position(Taiwan garbage) and clipped the CDC front lip on.

Added the factory vert k-member brace to the underside.

All interior is removed. Passenger seat to fixed Corbeau. Driver seat needs to be finished before installation(next week?).

New hub, quick disconnect and steering wheel.

Also ordered the Roll Bar from Maximum Motorsports. Went with the Sport Bar, fixed harness mount and diagonal brace. This will allow us to hit some HPDE events prior to putting the full cage in the car at the end of the year.

Still waiting on the roll bar. Not very happy with American Muscle and Maximum Motorsports. Both sites say its 4-6 weeks time depending on options. Im at 8 weeks now and no ship date.

Got a call on Tuesday from XPO saying they have a delivery from Maximum Motorsports!

Delivered yesterday with a few bumps and bangs on the box but after looking over everything the roll bar looks good.

Finally back on the Mustang build.
Hood louvers installed. Exhaust fixed. More interior stripping.

Next is to install the roll bar, hood pins and trunk pins, rear brakes and delete the air conditioning.

Then move on to CMCV deletes, battery cut off switch, fire suppression and FIA rain light.

It will then go off to get the rest of the cage added to the roll bar.

You're moving right along. So when do you hope to have it completely finished, and ready to test on a track?

Plan is HPDE in June with just the roll bar installed. Shake it out and see if anything explodes or breaks.

From there, drop the car off and get the front half of the cage welded to the Maximum Motorsports roll bar to finish it. Saves some time/money for me to use the roll bar as a base for the cage since it meets all the rules for Champ Car requirements - 2700+lbs curb weight = 1.75" x .120 wall tubing.

Hoping for a 1:27 at Summit Point Main with the power/weight/tire the car will have. FWIW, my Fiesta ran a 1:30.7 as a hero lap on Main to give you a benchmark.

Next is getting the seatbelt finished. Then start working on deleting the air conditioning system. Then aluminum driveshaft.

Waiting on new front and rear control arms. Went with the OE GT500 units as they are stock with uprated bushings. This will be complaint with Champ Car rules to not incur points to the vehicle performance index.

Worked on getting the headlights back to beaming. Driver side had a broken connector and passenger side was shorted causing a draw to the battery.

Found junkyard pigtails, repinned/wired them in and bam. Now we have headlights. LED H13 bulbs give it some real shine. Should pair well with the Diode Dynamics light bar for the hood.

Now to mount the light bar….

Started making the Lexan quarter windows. Hour per side and they are about done. $30 for the 1/8” thick Lexan sheets and $10 for rivets. Beats the $165+ for the preformed kits.

Waiting on Alston race cars for the rear window. Was too big for the sheets at Home Depot.

Rear window installed. Alston Race Cars makes an excellent fit product. Installed in around an hour with rivets every 6-9”. It’s a bit oversized but it helps to keep the curve of the window outward.

Now to get the 2x 1”x1/8 thick straps for the outside of the window.
