Any real world knowledge with this issue?

I heard that police explorer had some issues with this but those are modified.

Also, does this cover all engine options?

I got a letter from Ford saying to schedule a fix for this. Haven't done it yet, will soon. About 22k mi on a 17 XSport.

Reprogramming the climate control module and inspecting the rear for seal quality and fix if necessary.

I'm not concerned with my Explorer. I'm betting the HVAC reprogram just limits the time recirculation mode is allowed to run.
