393947313.jpg

"Last week it was leaked that Ford would be bringing its purpose-built drag racer, the Cobra Jet, back for another year in 2012. Today Ford made it official by revealing the car at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show in Florida alongside its road racing brother, the Boss 302S.

After getting an upgrade in 2010, the Cobra Jet is getting revised once again for 2012 with an updated version of the supercharged 5.4-liter V8 and modified suspension, low-drag racing brakes, new black anodized wheels and a stickier set of Goodyear racing slicks. Three colors will be offered – Race Red, Grabber Blue and Winner White – and just 50 will be available from the Ford Racing catalog. Pricing starts at $91,990 with a fully loaded Cobra Jet coming in at $103,980. Follow the jump for the press release."

I wonder what "fully loaded" means? What options could it possibly come with, aren't they pretty much gutted?

Great car! I wish they offered a $35-$40kk version: Stock, strippy GT with a gutted interior, bolt-ons, slicks, beefed up automatic and cool paint job. If they made it light enough, it could be a 10 second car for minimal money??

Very nice but what has the world come to when a Ford Mustang costs $90-100k

its a fully built race car. to take a brand new mustang and do everything to this car (professionally built) to run 10s right out of the box, would probably cost more. plus all the hassle of having one built, and going through the fixes and tweaking of building such a car.

Bet one could be built cheaper. Does look good though.

maybe if you bought a new V6 and did all the work yourself. but its for people with $$ who want to be able to buy it and go race. to not to have to wait forever having every little thing done to it and then all the testing and tweaking. i think its a brilliant idea for someone who can afford it and doesnt want to actually build a car.

they certainly have no problem selling every single one of them. for the rest of us "regular folks", we can build our own, slowly.....over time..... lol

103K? WTF...I couldn't imagine spending that on a ****ing DRAG CAR! You could build one for way less than half of that. Who cares what it looks like, its a damn drag car.

Must be a VERY light and underrated car. Im very interested to see one of these on the road or in a car show.
