?? 2013 M5 vs 2011 GT500. Future runs..

Hey guys,

I was out Saturday evening with my girlfriend, and we met up with some of her friends. There was one guys there, 39 years old, very successful, very cool, and most of all a car guy. We started talking for a while, and I found out that he keeps his cars for about 6 months before he moves on to another. He just sold he Audi R8 V8 TT. And picked up a 13 BMW M5. The car is very sharp.
Anyway, while we were looking at it. I mentioned that I would love to see how my Shelby (2011) would run against his, and he was interested as well. These will be roll races from about 40ish. Since I didn’t have my car with me, and also that we both had been drinking, we agreed to meet up in the near future and do some runs and get it on tape.
Now, I have seen some videos on the new M5s, and they look to be NO JOKE. My Shelby is stock. My question is will this even be a close race, or will it just stomp the $hit out of my car? I heard these cars pull like crazy up top. Even if he beats me, I really don’t care, I just want to see how the M5 performs :banana:

stock R8 V8 is a 5.2l NA V8 making 420bhp. If it had Twin Turbos, then it was modded.

4.2 liter, but you're correct, no TT on an R8 from the factory.

I think we need to get back on subject. I would say a bone stock 2013 F10 M5 vs a stock 2011 GT500 would be a good race until 120mph. Past those speeds he's gonna walk away from you pretty badly. Better aero and top end gearing will make it a tough race up top.

I've seen a thread on Supraforums of the new F10 M5 doing an 11.7 @122 mph in the 1/4 so I would say it would be a good race overall. I would say put a passenger in each car to make it fair and get it on video.

Pulley/tune will hold him off to 40-140, stock and he should edge you out.

I'm not sure how good of a driver Edmunds hires for their reviews but the posted 12.5@1/4 mile at 115mph.

I think the win here is gonna also depend on shutdown speed. The lower you shut down the less of a chance he has to win. Anything over 140-150mph is gonna be against your favor if you actually do a stock to stock race.
