This car spent it's whole life in Arizona before we purchased it in May of 2022. It's a 1 owner car and likely daily driven as it has 17,500 miles.
The front bumper is horrible, multiple rock chips and bad paint touch ups. I do have a new bumper and splitter, but undecided when I want to have that done. I'd need to replace those stripes or have them completely removed and have stripes painted on. So for now I'm leaving it.
I'm still a novice when it comes to detailing, but I feel I'm getting better. I couldn't capture a lot of the paint defects with my camera. But it has scratches all over the car. Even some deep rock chips, one on the roof and two on the passenger side rear fender area.
The car was washed before winter storage, so I wiped it down and then clay barred it.
I used a couple different products. I tested the hood first from start to finish.
For the hood I used:
-Porter Cable DA polisher
-Wolfgang Uber compound, with lake country orange cutting pads.
-Wolfgang finishing glaze, with lake country white polishing pads.
-Wolfgang paint sealant wax, with lake country black finishing sealant/wax pad.
I then proceeded to use this same process on the drivers side front fender and didn't like the results as much. Tons of scratches on the panels. So I decided to switch compounds.
-Griot's fast acting cream, with lake country orange cutting pads.
Moving forward I'll be using:
-Griots correcting cream next with lake country white polishing pads.
-Wolfgang paint sealant wax.
The first step is almost complete, I still need to go over the front and rear bumpers, wing, and mirrors.
Misc products used:
- Carpro Tar X for black residue removal.
- Carpro Eraser. This works awesome for wiping panels down before applying the next polish. Cleans up the surface and less static. Works great for window cleaner as well!
In total I already probably have 8-9 hours in, including taping it off. I may try other products to cut down on time.
I'll keep this thread updated. So far the results are awesome.
Thanks for looking!
