2020 GT500 top speed limited...

    Maybe it also has to do with the fact that at 200+ mph out of the showroom, Ford would be getting awful close with a mustang to a bunch of perf numbers the FGT has... From a 1/4mi, top speed, hp, 0-60 stats standpoint.

    brand separation. Mustang is not FGT

    pls don't explain FGT is a totally different car and would destroy the mustang "on the ring" for 50 laps. I'm just talking magazine article racing.

    I have a feeling that the CF Track Package is going to cost a substantial amount and Ford doesn't want the lowly "base" model with a higher top speed.

    Nurbergring is probably the ONLY road course in the world where cars like the gt500 would come close to 180mph.

    Chevy and dodge never had an issue with the ZR1 aero package and ACR being slower in a straight line not sure why ford would care. Ive never even seen a comment from a retarded youtuber complaining of that either.

    My overall guess is a lawyer made a decision based on not much. Not all these decisions are based on Nasa levels of science

    The c7z was slower on the straights than the c6z because of the aero package. It makes a huge difference. Think of it, they use aero for downforce to create better grip and the use aero for braking too. At some point they do interfere each other.
    Just ask gm....

    No, you're correct that it hasn't, but for all intents and purposes this GT500 is also over 550 lbs "heavier" at speed when you factor in the downforce. That adds a lot of heat as far as load and pressure are concerned.

    I’m saying gm did have an issue with their aero package making the c7z slower in straight line speed.

    Easily. I hit 160mph in mine on the final straight. 8 glorious laps..... What a ****ing rush!

    I meant they didnt have an issue with marketing that, like the Dodge with the ACR and the aero package ZR1 so why would ford care if their max aero car was slower than their base car. Any reasonable person understands that max downforce=slower top speed.

    I understand now. There are some people without common sense and lots of money. And with the c7z being slower on acceleration than the c6z probably did not help.

    uhh yea. you have two options, max aero track pack or base. How many people do you know would buy the track pack expecting it to have a higher top speed?

    I still think that deep in teh Ford skunk works is a GT500R waiting to release hoy hell upon the auto world. Might not be 2020 that it comes out. With this much hate for the limiter (rightfully so) make an R spec the ultimate version of this car with no limiters.

    DBK made it sound as if Ford was considering a sort of all out beast a while back but bailed. Given the remaining production run for the S550 along with economies of scale/amortization of tooling, etc, I wouldn't expect a manual or King Kong version of the GT500 to happen. Be nice if it would but at this point all things point to no.

    If the car makes 750-770hp, has a carbon fiber package, and a massive wing, how much “more beast” could Ford have taken the car...

    Well, they should have just copied the 720S and sold it for 50 grand. Anything less is just junk so haters on this site will go buy hellcats.... Lol...
