Just looking to get some advice on what tire size would be best. Just recently switched to a weld s71 15 inch rim out back. Car is a kenne bell 2.8 making 675 to the rear wheel. I assume 28 would look great and also be best for launching the car. Just wanted to get some opinions .

My car is probably around 700 rear wheel now and I’ll be using m&h 26 inch on 16x10 diamonds. Hopefully I can get to the track sometime this year with this setup. Two passes were made on these tires and they did 1.7 sixty’s launching at about 3500 with a 2.3 whipple. If they’re not enough for the 2.9 I’ll switch to some 28’s but if the 26’s work I’m going to leave it alone. I don’t want to have to roll fenders for 28’s.

28's would be better for traction, more sidewall and flex. But you may run into clearance issues depending on your suspension setup and wheel specs. That's a big tire to stuff under a Cobra. The pic below is a 15x8 wheel with a 26x10.5 MT ET Street R with Eibach Sportline springs. Your car is making quite a bit more power then mine did, but i was able to consistently cut low 1.5x 60's on that setup, launching at 5500ish slipping the clutch a few feet. I would have launched it off of the rev limiter lol, but was having issues with the t56 shifting. No doubt in my mind it would have went 1.4's. No issues with the tires rubbing.

I'd do everything I could to make the car work with 26s. 28s look wonky imo and will require more extensive body modification.

In all seriousness, the car in question makes 675whp. If he can't make the car get down with a 26 and compensates with a 28, then he's masking other problems that really should be worked out.

For your stuff, yeah, a 28 is going to be the way. And while to my eyes it isn't as aesthetically appealing, it is what it is. Racecar bruh! Getcha some!

Also keep in mind rear gear and transmission ratios. Nice to cross the line at the top of a gear rather than somewhere out of the power band.
