5 Star Tuning's S650 Mustang GT Picks Up 50+HP/TQ - Tune Only!!

HP Tuners has pulled off a miracle and saved the Ford aftermarket as we know it. By cracking the encryptions on Ford's latest generations of ECUs they have created a new rush of performance modding. To no one's surprise, the guys over at 5 Star Tuning in Florence, SC had a backlog of employee owned vehicles ready for calibration development. This stone stock 10R80 equipped S650 Mustang GT was one of the first to get their attention, and the results did not disappoint. Check out this vid:

As you can see, starting from a strong baseline of 433HP they were able to pick up 30HP on 93 Octane and 50HP on E85. Torque gains largely track with the horsepower gains. If I owned one of these cars added a custom tune would be high priority. Besides gaining power everywhere in the rev range, the driveablity of the car is greatly improved. That's doubly true on an automatic car like this one, where optimizing the shifts makes a huge difference in the driving experience. What do you guys think?

Just started watching Lund Racing deep tuning dive.
Very glad the modern Fords can be tuned!

Seems like a happy dyne looking at stock baselines, but gains are impressive indeed.

@SID297 Does that mean my daily driver 2023 Escape ST line can be tuned now too? It desperately needs it, but 5 Star and Livernois both told me the encryption was preventing it. The other side is that no one really cares about these cars either, but it would be nice to at least have a tune.

Looks like escape tuning only goes up to 2019 with HP Tuners.

Since HP cracked it does that mean other companies will also? Or is HP the only one that matters? I haven't paid attention to this stuff in a while.

HP is top of the food chain for this market.
Just curious...is Fords encryption copywritten? Is there any legal action they can take against HP for breaking it?
I assume no....but can HP Tuners have IP on their ability to break someone else's patented encryption?
Or once other tuners get their hands on an HP Tune, they can reverse engineer it and start using it without fear of legal action because HP can't patent their ability to break Ford's encryption?

What makes you think Ford isn't ok with this release?

I’d guess with the tuning capability for S650 mustangs that their sales will increase significantly.
Ford is on board with that!

I guess....? I'm struggling to understand why Ford would be happy about this? They could have given the aftermarket the keys to the castle years ago, and didn't.

Do we really know why Ford encrypted their ECU's? (Is it done to placate the EPA to eliminate tuning and Ford actually doesn't care?)

Still great news! Solid gains tune only! Hopefully Ford stays with this encryption for a while so enthusiasts can enjoy the benefits.
