I have a such a bad taste with that record run.

Bernie Katz, the owner of Viper Exchange just recently passed away. He was the pillar of the run.

Russ Oasis, ran marketing, fundraising, etc. A few months ago, he sued one of my friends for using a picture from the ring attempt on his dealer website. My friend contributed $10,000 or so to the run, and had his name on the car. Tons of people shared the same image with no recourse.

Russ went after him, and they settled for just under $400,000. Ridiculous.

what a ******. Not sure I understand how one could be a contributor and have name on car, then proceed to get sued and have to pay money back. World can be ass backwards.

Loved this when it came out originally. Love my Gen 2, but wouldn't mind adding a G4 ACR to the garage one day. Looks like there are a few Viper owners on here.

I love mine.

Nope, the 2000 and up gen 2's are known as "cream puffs" as they had hyper-cast pistons and a milder cam than the early 96-99.

Nope, 1996-02 is considered Gen II. Period.

Yes, in 2000-02 they went to cast pistons...but they're still a Gen II.

I absolutely loved mine when I had it and will probably get another Gen 5 later on down the road. Like others have said, Dodge never marketed the car properly which is surprising considering within the past 10 years, Dodge/FCA I think has the absolute best car commercials. You see Hellcats roasting tires, tributes to the Dodge brothers, and there was an awesome patriotic Jeep commercial a few years back.

The Gen V (2013-2017) was a ton of car for the money. During its production run, it had the largest displacement engine in a passenger car since WW2, the largest single piece of OEM carbon fiber (the clam shell hood)(also the roof and rear decklid are all carbon fiber), the largest tire footprint of any car (more than a Veyron), was completely hand assembled, and the ACR set more track records than any other production car (beating even the Porsche 918 at Laguna Seca).

I bought mine in August of 2017 with 5,500 miles on it for $73,500 and sold it in November 2019 with 12,800 miles for $83,000. I'll never forget picking it up in Ohio and driving it all the way back to Florida. Soooo many cars along the way paced me and took photos of it.

These are the photos I took when I put it up for sale. They FINALLY made a nice interior.

I loved my 96. It had more comfortable seats, solid cam lope, and exhaust sounded better. It was light and still could hold its own today but I love my 16 more. It’s a much more refined car, a/c works way better, better creature comforts, faster, and just more enjoyable to drive. They both have their charms but the new one is pretty much better in all aspects (as it should be). Now I will say I would gen 2 everyday over a gen 3-4. Gen 2 is a timeless car and with blowers/turbos they are stil absolute animals.

Can't believe I watched all 24 minutes of that. Great video! Were those privately owned cars? What became of the wrecked one if so?

Best front end is gen IV. They ****ed up the gen V with that horrible front end. Sucks because the rest of the car is absolute sex.

Former Gen 2 (99 GTS) and IV (09 VOI Coupe) owner, current Gen V (2014 TA) owner here. There is no question the Gen V is the best car in terms of being an actual car. It marries all the rawness and charm of the Gen 2 with the modern expectations/amenities of vehicle ownership. Best Viper experience IMO.

The Gen IIs are awesome. They're timeless. The Gen Vs have too much technology and such. The Gen IIs also are damn near bulletproof...while the Gen Vs have had their fair share of bearing issues.

I have a buddy that has a Gen II with a single turbo that puts down about 1000rwhp. Ridiculous car.

Can't argue that. The Gen 2s are absolutely timeless! I haven't seen anything regarding the Gen 5 bearing issues.

I have seen a few single turbo Gen 2s. I can only imagine, I'm at 622 rwhp on 5 PSI. I bet 1000 rwhp in this thing would be unreal!
