SCT Sponsored Racer, Valerie Clements, explains first hand
what it's like racing her 8 sec NMRA Renegade Mustang.
Not is she only 20 years old, but she is a full time Clemson
University student. Book worm during the week and a
Drag Racing super hero on weekends? You decide....

Valerie is a great racer. After hanging with all these guys last year, I can say I have never meet a bunch of nicer guys & gals. It's all business at the line but as you can see as soon as Valerie hit that wall and came to a stop her opponent was out of his car and hauling ass down the track to check on her.

Wish I could say Bill and I will be there but it's just not in the cards this year. Good luck to Valerie in BG, with competitors like Adam Arndt and Brian Mitchell it's going to be one hell of a weekend.

Valerie is a hell of a driver, I used to race with her at quite a few events each year back in the Jr. Drag racing days. Glad to see that she is having success with SCT!

Well, just an update from SCT on the race from BG:

#SCT Racer, Valerie Clements had both ups and downs this year in Renegade. In Maryland, after cracking the block, Valerie and her team decided to run with no water and still won the race. In Joliet, Valerie melted a piston, causing the cam cover to lift and sprayed oil all over the track. The oil got under her tires sending her across track and into the wall. Valerie had the car fixed before this event only to put a hole in the number 6 piston, in Fridays test and tune session. Fellow Renegade racer Tim Matherly, offered Valerie his spare engine and the team went to work. With no one having a cherry picker on site, Valerie's crew got started pulling the engine, while she ran out to Harbor Freight and bought one. Valerie and her crew, along with other racers in her class pitched in and got the engine fired that night. Valerie would go on to qualify in the 11th spot, with a [email protected] as her and her crew continued concentrating on dialing in the borrowed engine. This season, when it came to man versus machine, Valerie and her crew knocked down every obstacle that came their way. Sadly, it would be Mother Nature who got the best of them, when the race was rained out on Sunday and postponed until Monday. Having missed all her college classes on Friday and with an exam scheduled on Monday, Valerie made the decision to forfeit the race and head home. Valerie reported to us that she wrote her exam and things went well.

Thanks for the update, Stacy. Valerie is quite a young woman. A young woman with driving skill, determination, selflessness, and priorities. Good for her to decide to return to college yesterday for her exam. She will have other opportunities to compete on the track.

Thanks for the update and she has no reason to hang her head low, she still managed a Top 5 spot for the season, second season at that and that is something to be proud of. Watch out next year boys she's going to be knocking on that top spots door.
