Hey guys, I've been looking at a 1994 Rio Red Cobra with 124k miles on it. The owner is an older guy so he has not beat on it (he wasn't the only owner).

Has aftermarket exhaust (flowmasters), a mild cam, 19" chrome rims (guy doesnt know what they are, but I think they might be saleens), paint is in excellent condition but small issues here and there (some rear bumper cracks/micro cracks, and a couple small dings), no visible rust, tires have 90% tread, a very slight power steering leak, interior is excellent except for a repaired rip on the drivers seat.

He's had a "for sale" sign on it in his driveway for a while, it's not listed for sale anywhere. He's told me he wants to get rid of it ASAP because he's getting too old and he wants a harley. He is asking $6000 for it. I want to get the price as low as possible without lowballing/offending him. How much is it worth?

I would ask to drive it, and see if the synchros are grinding. Then offer him $5500 cash on the spot. Sounds like a nice car. I had paid $6200 for my 94 with similiar miles and all stock.

Offer what you want to pay. All he can say is no and then you can go from there. I'd offer 5k and try to settle at 5500 as previously suggested

I don't think I'd do more than $5000. Maybe I'll go $4500 then work up from there. Is that a bad idea?

great score, I paid $4,400 for my 95 cobra on the cape about 5 years ago. It had 118k miles at the time. where are you in MA?
