99 cobra rear diff

So I’m switching over my 99 cobra to 4:10s after doing some research I figured I should get a new diff carrier to and have everything fresh but it’s hard to find 28 spline diffs for my car and see people switch over to 31 spline diffs and axles, I also can’t even fine 28 spline halfshafts anywhere, so what do I need to convert to 31 spline, just a diff, gears obviously and half shafts? Are the 31 spline halfshafts 28 spline at the hub or do I need new hubs?

First for 31 spline axles you just need a 31 spline carrier. Second the only Sn95/New Edge that had independent rear suspension was 03/04 Cobras, So did you convert your Cobra to IRS?

The 99 Cobra was the first SN95/New Edge to come with an IRS. In 01 the inner CV's were upgraded to 31 spline. In 03 the whole half shaft was upgraded. A pinion support was added and stiffer bushings were used. Though I'm not sure if all of the bushings were changed or just a few of them.

The 99/01 Cobras really are the bastard children of the Cobra line up. I only know what I know because I had an 01 for a long time.

Really the 99 is the lonely bastard child.

The 2001, as you know, is called the 99-fixed..with intake, updated rear bumper, seats, irs knuckles, diffy spline count..etc.

Nothing on my 99 got fixed by any recall either. I think maybe the first owner ripped out the aft cats and no one after that dared to bring her in...or a dealer pencil whipped her recalls.

Still I love my 99!!

Years ago, you might have gotten jumped..like just before the terminator came out....I mean never.

I tell ya, we never got any respect..

Is that a terminiator?
That's just a fobra...real cobras have cobra on the bumper!
Is that the one that had the recall?
The list goes on and on...

I feel better now..thanks..

The local dealerships that did the upgrades on the 99 cobras, trashed, gave away or salvaged all the take off parts.
I got 3 IRS carriers from my dealer. I sold two and have one left for a spare.
I tried to get some transmissions, but those got scarfed up quickly.
They also had a bunch of drive shafts that tried to give me.
They got a good price on the stainless exhaust pipes, so they sold they to the local scrap dealers.

I had an 01. I couldn't count the amount of times I was asked if it was a Terminator or why I took the stock blower off. A local guy was putting together a group for Cobra owners. I was shunned because it wasn't a Terminator. Nevermind the fact that I made more power than everyone on that group.

I was with a buddy at a local race when I met him. My buddy drove a 10th anniversary at the time. The guy asked us what we drove and after I pointed to my 01 he turned and talked to my buddy only. He was a member on here for a bit and was an ass online as well.
