Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. Formula 1 Grand Prix race announced for northern New Jersey in 2013 - The Washington Post Its 10 minutes from my house and I know the area, that elevation change is going to be bad ass. Can't wait to book my 3 day tickets.:banana::banana:
I race on that track all the time on my motorcycle. How the hell are they going to race F1 on it? It is not a very wide track.
+1 I live in Edgwater and my brother is in Union City so I'm over in that area often. I'm still confused on how they're going to lay it out. Not to mention the logistics of setting up a proper racing venue. Where would all the parked cars go? Where will pit lane be? The only place big enough that I can think of would be on River Rd but that would mean the cars would have to take a huge detour to get there. Edit* Just saw the map. Looks like River Rd will be part of the track and pit lane will be by the ferry/light rail station. Makes sense. The ferry parking lot is the only place big enough for all the trailers and equipment. This track is going to be tight with big elevation changes. Can't wait!
I used to go to the Indianapolis Grand Prix all the time when I lived in Indiana, and of course F1 was still racing there. Unfortunately, the guy who owns the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the guy who runs F1 are both huge assholes, so they couldn't continue running there because they butted heads so much. F1 is amazing to see in person though. Whatever you do, try and get a seat along the front straightaway where the starting grid will be. There's nothing like seeing 20 F1 cars revving up right in front of you and taking off from a standing start.
last 3 day ticket in montreal cost me $550.00 for silver seats.. and ITS OFFICIAL !!!!!!! Christie announces Formula One racing coming to Hudson County | NJ.com
