This has nothing to do with opinions of Amsoil's quality. Just the following statement:

AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil is excellent for use in all types of gasoline-fueled vehicles. It is recommended for all domestic and foreign vehicles requiring any of the listed performance specifications:

5W-50 (AMR): API SN, SM...; Ford WSS-M2C931-C (Mustang)

The way I read that, it does not say it meets Ford spec. It says that it is formulated for vehicles that call for Ford spec. Redline has a similar statement:

Popular for 5.4L Supercharged Ford applications like Shelby GT 500 and Ford GT (WSS-M2C931-B)

Neither one says it MEETS the spec.
So for those concerned about warranty, give this some thought.

Steve

Technically for warranty purposes any 5w50oil with an API rating of SM meets the requirements for gt500 engines.

A rating that amsoil synthetics utterly destroy as they exceed past them.

API rating is the key here.

That is what oil sampling tests are for. I use 10w40 without worry - samples test great. The Ford oil on the other hand tests for crap.

I believe it does since they use the language "requiring".

If you want to get further into the technical language, oil manufacturers oil warranty only applies to stock cars, including Ford. So most would technically be out on that very specific language.

Another reason to send in oil samples :)

I give up.
This was meant to be a language thread, not an oil thread.

I almost said "quitter" followed several spaces down with "j/k" but it seemed a little too soon :)

It's a good question and I think people in general miss the fact that once you modify your motor, those oil warranties are out the window anyway.

I would like to see Ford reject a warranty claim because you didn't use their oil in the car. They would have to prove that the oil was the cause of the failure.

Have you ever even heard of an oil related engine failure, most of this has to due with long term wear near 100k miles.

Yep...and then you are talking about hiring a lawyer to litigate...most people won't spend the money to do so. Plus, once you modify...that oil warranty won't apply anyway.
