Looking for advise. Have an 04 cobra making 600+ hp. Ran 11.90's at 126 mph. I've read other posts of cars running 10.9 at 125 mph. What factors can cause such a differance?

How can we suggest changes without a mod list? Drag suspension, good tires, and the driver mod. Lighter weight helps a bunch too.

Sorry for confusion. What I am trying to understand is how can one car be a second slower in the quarter but run just as fast in mph?
I just purchased the car and am unsure of all the mods, but I do know:

Mods :All bolt on- KB 2.2L, JLT CAI, Mac long tubes, Prochamber, and 3", irs brace, H&R SS springs, 335-30/18 Nitto DR, stock gear

Nittos are your first problem.... was the pass on slicks or drag radials. In my experience, nittos aren't the best hooking drag radials. 9X outta 10, the difference in time is going to be due to traction.

Wheel spin can also lead to a higher mph, hence, you can have a 10.9 pass at 125 or so, and 11.5 pass at 127 or 128.

Could also be a driver issue..... would pretty much have to see a video to see if that was a contributer. It also has to do with how hard you leave. What was the 60' on the pass?

just a few things that might help

Reaction time has nothing to do with et or mph. Traction and driving style is everything. If you get your 60' into the 1.50s you will most likely be in the 10's with your combo. You can pic up mucho et by powershifting as well. My car runs in the 10's with an eaton, but does have some weight reduction. However it ran 11.50 at nearly 3900lbs with only 449hp. You have to be able to hook and drive the hell out of the car for it to et. BTW, I have cut a 1.70 60' on a 305/35/18 nitto dr, so it is possible on a decent track to get those tires to hook. Still no comparison to a BFG, Hoosier or MT.

60ft times play a huge factor in drag racing. In your 600 hp car, if you cut a 1.80 60ft it should run around 11.0-11.20. Now if you were to put some slicks on the car and cut a 1.59 60ft your et would drop considerable and you should run 10.60's-10'80s depending on how good of a driver your are......its all bout getting a good launch and a 60ft, and of course, making nice clean and fast shifts going down the track.......What was your 60ft? What are you shifting at? In your opinion do you think you can drive good? Shift good? With 600hp you should have some more mph....

Unfortunately, I only recently purchased the cobra and I am relying on the previous owners track time- was only given limited info. IE 11.90's at 126 mph.
Thanks everyone for the input!
