What are some of the good Android phone apps for measuring these sort of things?
None of them are very accurate. You’d be better off with something like this

Was just looking for something free to screw around with. It's not a need item so dropping hundreds is a hard pass for me.
Torque app. I haven't used it yet for that though. I just use it for the obd2 scanning and guages.

I have a Vbox and it is damn accurate. See if some local gearhead friends want to pool some money together to share a Vbox. Better than paying out $500 by yourself.
I've never seen a phone app that is accurate. The GPS in most phones has a sampling rate of 1 hertz. That means it takes a reading once every second. The Vbox does it at 10 hertz or every 1/10 of a second.
I have a vbox I'll sell. $300 shipped.
