Took the ol girl to the dunes this past weekend for some shake down. She ran good until I lost the main coolant plug on top of the cylinder head -- no bueno.

Thinking about going down on domes though. Im running 20cc domes and only getting 160psi kicking compression. Think I'll try some 18 or 19's.

Otherwise... she rips!!

Some pic whoring...

You guys up North can have all your snow back. I'm glad I was able to experience it but I'm done with it. I'm glad I got a temp gauge on my home because I blocked too much of the radiator at first.

I will be trying again tomorrow, for science. Sliding is fun but the lack of control gets old.

FYI the last time we had snow like this is 1985 from what the news says.

Any trouble keeping the front down? I can't comment on gains of adding compression. These days I rather keep is safer and easier to kick than chasing a few hp. I've done that twice though many years ago on my old set ups.

I blocked the radiator too much for the run yesterday. The engine temp got to 225 for a very short while. I went ride today and everything was fine. I stayed far under the power band the whole time since the engine was taking a long time to heat up.

Around ten minutes in, she lost power as if one cylinder died. I went to kicke it and it wasn't much, almost a back fire. Bore scope looked as if the walls have slight scaring but the spark plugs both looked fine and rich.

Perhaps an oring in the cool head let go. The engine spins fine. I'll do a compression test and go from there.

Edit 1/23/25 7:40pm: compression test on both cylinders are even and good. I will see if the flywheel key messed up then perhaps take off the head.

Edit* 1/26/25. Figured it out. The flywheel came loose. Last year it came loose and pitted the cranks shaft bad. I cleaned it up and lapped it. Well, it didn't work for long. I'll send the crank to crank works to get fixed. These billet 10mil cranks aren't cheap.

More sand time this past weekend... good stuff.. I dropped the domes in the banshee to 18cc from 19cc and she woke the hell up. Much better off the pipe!

Also have an update on the LT500 quadzilla coming later this week I'll share soon.... excited!

Finally got the cylinder back for the quadzilla.

Work done:

--reinforced rear "ears" aka rear mounting base holes
--fresh sleeve bringing it back to stock bore
--port work
--base and top deck machined for flatness

Excited to get her back up and going again!

I had a Suzuki GT550, 2 stroke triple many years ago. Very quick off the line to about 95 and then maxed about 110. Melted the center piston several times.
