In the October 2009 issue of Popular Hot Rodding there is a very good article on the new engine.
Lots of internal pictures and details.

Some of the highlights.
The aluminum block has extra strengthening ribs and thicker walls to reduce component walking.
The crank is forged.
Unfortunately the rods are powdered metal and the pistons are cast.
But the pistons do have oil squirters to aid in cooling.
The worst thing that was described is that the block has open cylinders. That is, the cylinders are only attached at the bottom and are unsupported at the top. This will limit the amount of additional boost that the block will support. Even after the rods and pistons are replaced. The article does describe that import engine builders use a system of wedges or shims to "lock" each cylinder in place on their engines that will be running much more than stock boost.

After reading the article I had a mental picture of getting a Ford Flex with Ecoboost and building the engine to not only pass California smog but handle 30 pounds of boost.
Sure would be fun having a 700hp station wagon.
