I attended my first SCCA Solo test and tune today.

Wow is all I have to say. I had no idea what driving a car 10/10ths was. The things I did out there would get me arrested in seconds on the street. The thing is, I never exceeded 55 mph and have never pushed it so hard, not even close. I didn't realize I could until after I rode with an experienced driver.

I've recently gone as far as removing my anti roll bar, installing a BMR radiator support, White Line adjustable sway bars, Bilstein HD shocks/struts, BMR GT500 handling springs (260lb) in front and 10" - 200lb springs in the rear, plus Maximum Motorsports caster camber plates. The car is now a ton of fun to drive, as it feels like it's glued to the road and doesn't have a harsh ride. Now that I've gone this far and enjoy it and the autocross, I'll likely do a brake and tire upgrade next.

If you haven't tried an autocross, I want to encourage you to get out there and enjoy something different with your car. It's a constant rush for nearly a minute straight. Here's why. You are either accelerating as quickly as possible, braking as quickly as possible or turning as quickly as possible, the entire run. There is no place to let up until the run is complete. It's a rush from start to finish.

Precautions for autocrossing an 1101 rwhp car:
I had Scott Hasty pull some timing out of the tune. I also swapped to a pulley, four sizes larger to remove 4 lbs of boost (just to make it a little more controllable). The last thing I did was, throw a bag of ice in the ice box after each run. It wasn't necessary, as the water was barely lukewarm, but I did it anyway. I made four runs over the course 4 hours. I could have made 12+ runs if I had wanted to.

I spun out once and hit four cones over the course of four runs. The cones are a flexible, soft plastic. I did zero damage. My times dropped from 58 seconds to 49.

The organizers will get you rides in cars with experienced drivers who are fast. You can learn from them. They will also put experienced guys in your car to give you pointers if you'd like.

I was skeptical when Ford Performance talked about proper nutrition and hydration for the couple days in Utah. I’m now a believer, and it’s easier to understand the HR monitors on Moto GP riders being pegged lol.

Very addicting and leaves one wanting to improve, knowing there is almost endless room to do so.

I can’t imagine the handful your car was at auto cross haha

looks like fun. there is a youtube channel called warhorse racing (i think) where the guy details all his mods for autocrossing. he has 2 v8 and one v6 mustangs that seem to do pretty well against the competition since it's not all about horsepower

Why? It's a blast.

I've done auto-x in the past, I find it much more enjoyable to be able to see a track, rather than look out and see 1,000 cones.

I'm thinking more seat time is in the future this year. If I still want to pursue it after that, then an S197 Brembo upgrade with wheels and class legal, 200 TW rubber for next year.

You would absolutely fall in love. Auto X is fun...but now magnify it by 3x's.

Think of it this way, you just played a new sport for the first time and had a great time, imagine how much fun it'll be once you develop a solid skill set and car setup!
Best advice: ride along with someone nationally ranked a few times, preferably a SP ('street prepared') car, it'll be mind blowing :)

A full fuel load in my SN95 helped traction tremendously since the tank hung off the rear, your tanks are just forward of the rear axle, see if it helps any.

Tire pressures (hot)-
Front: 35-33psi
Rear: 30-28psi
